Hello

As said in the title, I got a problem with my Sabertooth X79. It doesn't recognize the right capacity of my SSD and my HDD.

Just after the installation of Windows 8*, instead of had 8-10Go of data used... I have between 32 and 100Go, depends of the version of Windows...
*downloaded from Digital River with my login of studient of computerin, then official versions...

What I have write about it on log text file: (LAST BIOS ON THE Motherboard)
Quote:
Samsung 830 256Go - Sata 3 (last firmware, 2 SSD tested)
Cable Sata 3:
119/238Go with Seven Pro 64 bits
202/238Go with Seven Home 64 bits

Cable Sata 2: same results

From another computer: (Clevo P170HM (Sata 3) and Alienware M17x-R2 (Sata 2))
224/238Go with the 2 computer and the 2 Windows versions
Quote:
Samsung F1 SpinPoint 640Go - Sata 2
Cable Sata 3:
476/596Go with Seven Pro 64 bits
560/596Go with Seven Home 64 bits

Cable Sata 2: same results
And this, on each sata port: Intel 6Gbps, Intel 3Gbps, Marvell and SSD Caching ports...

I don't know how to solve this problem...

Someone had already have the same problem ? And some solutions ?

Tomorrow, I will try with my official Windows 8 Home 64 bits DVD box...

Are you talking about the max SSD/HDD capacity?

If youa re talking about the used space... Did you do a full wipe? If not, then your old Windows moves to Windows.old and uses 10+GB

It may be overprovisioning also if you are installing it clean (overprovisioning= keeping some free space for SSD maintenance)

Hello AlphaC

No I am talking about the capacity after installing Windows 7 or 8 on my SSD/HDD. I know that ntfs uses ressources and in reality a HDD of 640Go got something like 600Go of real capacity and a SSD of 256Go about 235-240Go.

I did a full wipe and a secure erase with SSD Magician for the 2 Samsung 830. The SSD and HDD were totally cleared at each installation... No old Windows or something like that. In the "tools" of the Windows 7 installation, I see clearly the real capacity but after the installation, I lost between 30 and 120Go...

I did some other test today with a Hitachi HDD of 120Go. Just after installation of Seven Pro 64 bits, I got only 40,5Go on 111Go. :/

With Windows 8 Home 64 bits (DVD from Get Genuine Kit) I lose 93Go. Really problematic on a SSD with the Go/$ ratio.

I think the card needs a RMA. Tomorrow I will send it to my reseller.
