[VR-Zone] BioWare's Neil Thompson: Xbox 720 isn't a huge leap from Xbox 360 - Page 2

it should be a much bigger leap than the original xbox to 360. there was only a 4 year difference. 360 to 720 is going to be 7 years, almost double the time for the next generation. if anything it should be twice the leap, anything less would be disappointing.

"isn't a huge leap" vs. "won't be quite as barn-storming an upgrade... still be quite a big leap"

This is a rather inflammatory, misleading headline. "isn't a huge leap" doesn't sound like the rumored 5x better to me, and just leads to 720 hate.

so it will be big, just not super big, but pretty big. rolleyes.gif

You guys should worry more about not making Dragon Age suck again, than making obtuse statements.

Developers are going to be more creative, better special effects is key to making better games. The hardware may look underwhelming when compared with a mid-grade gaming PC, it's all about creating better higher quality textures and special effects and not high FPS or higher resolution.

The difference between running 30 - 60 FPS sacrifices quite a bit of rendering performance, consoles won't be capable of running high resolutions (above 1080P) ever because the cost per console is limited! There will always be a limit since the hardware used is already generations behind what will be out in less of a years time for PC's, there always a step behind.

I'm hoping these higher quality textures make it to the PC port! biggrin.gif

the 720s hardware is still better than my PC, it might end up just getting one instead of spending $1500 on a new rig that can play ports

How much does it suck that as a primarily PC gamer I have to hope this isn't true so I can get better graphics on my PC ports of games?

This was the first thing that I thought of as well.

Doubt 720 will this decade come even close to what a lot of OCN members have today, in terms of hardware.
