Creating 'restore' cd for ubuntu server..

I have been trying to figure out the best way to make a way to save the whole system drive with all its settings, etc to a cdrom that I can use to recover it back to the orignal settings if I replace the main drive. I was thinking an ISO or something that would allow me to boot and dump the iso to the drive and make it bootable..

thanks.
