Cloning Software for SSD to SSD

Thread Starter
Moving from OCZ vertex 3 128gb to Samsung 840 Pro 256gb SSD. I have windows 8 installed, and do no want to clean install, just want to clone drive from old SSD to new SSD. I asked earlier on this forum the easiest way and a member recommended i use Easeus partition master. My Samsung SSD came with Samsung Smart Migration Software. I also have a 2tb WD Black HDD installed on my computer so could I used Acronis True image WD edition?

What do you guys recommend i use

-Easeus Partition Master Home Edition (the free edition)
-Samsung Smart Migration Software
-Or something else?

Now i have a WD drive installed on my computer, but i am not using it as one of the drives in the transfer, does that matter, or do you just need to have a WD HDD on you computer to use the software? Also does that edition support windows 8?

There just needs to be a WD drive in the system, it could even be USB as well.

As for windows 8 support IDK, however it should work...not guaranteeing tho.

Just use EaseUs todo backup to clone over and it should work no issue.

Thanks Sean! quick question, With EaseUs Todo Backup, can i have both SSD drives plugged in at the same time, and copy the image from one to the other, Or do i have to backup to a seperate HDD then move THAT to the new ssd. I would like to just transfer straight form old SSD to new SSD. Thanks again!

Also im guessing i would want to unplug any HDD that are not involved in the transfer if i can do straight SSD to SSD right?

Both plugged in, Clone SSD directly to SSD.

You can do it before or after it doesn't matter. The updates are non-destructive if you have one.

How did this work out for you, CaliLife?

I'm doing the same thing moving from an 80GB Intel SSD to the 840PRO and also not wanting to do a fresh install of W7.

A few questions, Sean, if you don't mind:

- EaseUS todo back up that you mention...this is the home version, yes? Would the trial version work or do I need to purchase the full version?
- My original SSD is aligned. Will this process keep the alignment?

Thanks!
