Help with XFCE

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I use Ubuntu 12.04LTS.

I recently installed the xubuntu-desktop package because I like the xfce interface.

The first time I booted up into it, I see this document named "Untitled Document~"

When I try to open it, I get a message asking for a program to read a backup file.

Where did this file come from, and can I delete it safely?

Thanks

Yes you can. Normally files post-fixed with a tilde ( ~ ), some use .swp, and pre-fixed with a . ( hidden ) mean they are a backup created by a text editor at some point. Usually they are deleted after you save the document and close the editor but from time to time they get left behind.
