AVG, Kaspersky, BitDefender, and F-Secure all have AV live disks you can run. They load a small version of Linux and you can scan your drive with them,

Not sure if serious...

Just in case you are....Windows does not have a Dos level...The command line is NOT Dos....While it may have dos like commands it is NOT DOS. The virus is not allowing you to access windows is not because it is a dos level.

Boot into safemode and run a virus scan that way.

Windows hasn't had a DOS base since Windows 98. He may have a rare BIOS virus, otherwise it's probably a rootkit.

Most people think BIOS or CMD level OS is DOS. But yea, lot's of free stuff out there that allows you to boot from a CD and run a scan.

If you go looking for bootable/live CDs or USBs of recovery software (many are Linux based) you should be able to come up with something very quickly. There's one I have used before that was great... can't remember the name.... Started with an 'H' I think... Always something good to have on hand. If you have a machine using an HDD for the OS many of the live utility distros will allow you to run defrag programs on the OS, which you normaly can't do while the native OS is running. Is also great if you jack up your OS too bad, but need to check your email, search for answers on how to fix things, etc...

Sorry i couldn't bee more helpfull. Best of luck though. thumb.gif
