Overclocking Phenom II 965 BE

I can't get it stable, no matter what I try. I'm currently on 3.8Ghz at 1.475 volts. Terrible I know. The CPU NB is a 2600Mhz stable at 1.25V also poor. My chip is a C3 too. Any ideas? It can't pass 20 runs of Intel Burn Test at maximum stress and my highest temps are~56C

What's your ram speed and timings? Also, what's your temps like?

What's your full system specs? 1.25v for 2.6ghz on the cpu/nb isn't bad at all, I'd say average if not good. Do you know everything else in your system is stable? (like ram)

You should probably revert to stock and test one thing at a time so you can factor out certain things causing the instabilities.

My full specs
Phenom II x4 965
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
8 GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600
Gigabyte 7870
Seagate Barrucuda 1TB
Rosewill Lightning Series 800W

My Ram is still at it's default timings and speed.

You could try some more voltage on the CPU/NB, but that will also increase your cpu heat and you're already pretty close to the thermal limit. Once Deneb starts to get too hot, it becomes unstable.

Okay, I'll try that tomorrow. I really don't think it's the NB though because small FFT's on Prime don't fail. Also my cooler is the 212+

Also I said that I'll try tomorrow is because it's about 3 AM here and I need a break from that BIOS

Any other suggestions?

Sir you got a quality board and you should be able to get over 4ghz depending on your ambients?

What are your ambient temps?

I had a 970a-ud3, 212+ 70F ambients, these two guides taught me how to understand overclocking, highly recommended for you.
first one taught me how, second one showed me how to overclock the CPU/NB as you rightly understood. Make sure HT stays @ 2000.

lol Okay, I'll check out those guides and my HT is at 2000. My ambient is about 68-73F I don't know what that would be in Celcius.
