[Xbit] Intel Starts Production of Next-Generation Haswell - Page 6

I forsee a lot of discounted 2500K to be purchased this year... lol

200% increase from the IGP is cool and all.
Hell-- it's fantastic.
But, if you could save considrably for just a fraction less of the overkill,
wouldn't you do it?

And, of course, there's always:
How many won't put a dicrete card in with their powerful CPU, anyway...?

But if they really bring back BCLK overclocking,
they could really clean up in the lower price ranges. thumb.gif

As for all of us with 2500K already,
the last 2 years waiting has been for this. frown.gif

.... There's not much to upgrade for.
A new mobo for features...?
Then I gotta buy a new CPU anyway....
Maybe if all the chips are hitting 5.5Ghz or better with ease,
but again-- How much kill would you like in your overkill...?

Are there really any desktop users that game on IGP? I`m more in to the mobile world and there we welcome bigger IGP performance greatly. Not to mention power consumption, which I reckon is a moot point for desktop users?

Yeah because PC is only for gaming, and nobody uses intel quicksync, and everyone can afford a dedicated gpu.

if haswell is worth the upgrade we will see!!
I wouldn't worry too much, the 3770k is and will still be a beast, just look at how close it performs to the cpu's in the x79 platform, sometimes even beating it (mostly in single threaded applications)
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/327

There are a bunch of benchmarks and you can compare CPU's.

Haswell... so it begins. Just seems like yesterday I was reading about Haswell a couple years ago on wikipeida and thought it would be mindblowing.. and now here we are. Next up.. Broadwell, and what I'm really waiting for now.. Skylake ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skylake_%28microarchitecture%29 ) .. mainstream support for DDR4 and a 14 nanometer process .. 2 more years

LOL but I bet you get dirt cheap dedicated GPUs that completely destroys the IGP?
Very little software supports quick sync. It have almost 0 support and I didn`t think anyone used it which is why I didn`t mention it

The more professional software anyway, they depend on dedicated GPU's for Cuda or OpenCL. I know quicksync is used on more consumer based apps, like arcsoft. Some bigger ones like main concept and sorenson squeeze also use it but also have support for Cuda.
