And on that note, I think I might have stumbled across the cause of the 4 core anomaly. I think It might be C6 power gating. I think portions of the module are Idle stating causing limited throughput. This would explain, the cores being utilized correctly (on thread per module) but the scores not adding up sometimes in random fashion.

My i7 920 has the same problem sometimes, so it's not only the FX series.
I'll look into FIX2, because this version was consistent on my i7 920 also , then I'll just try to rebuild the changes init.

Yeah I saw something similar with the 4 core test loading 4 threads on 2 cores a couple of builds ago... I have confirmed the odd behaviors we have seen with the low score lately however are in fact related to C6 power gating. If I shut C6 off the problem does in fact cease.

So at least that's one less thing to worry about. thumb.gif

this is what I got on my system with no OC at all.

system spec is:
1055T
1333 - stock 8 gig (4 x 2 gig)
gpu 550TI (the 670's are in for RMA)
gigabyte 990 ud3
windows 7 64 ultimate sp1


STOCK 2.8






small OC 3.3



I am shocked to see how much of an improvement there is with such a small oc.

so with that said I almost have a 1:1 scale of oc improvement to score improvement .... (hope that makes sense) so in other words I will still get the same type of score if I OC or downclock if we go to the most basic factor of scoring.... if we go according to the method you used


what I am running with small OC

3.37 - oc

2.80 - stock

2.8 / 3.37 = 0.830 - cpu

8640 / 10470 = 0.825


so the difference is 0.005

I should have done OC over Stock, but ya, changing the clock speed should create an almost perfect line (within margin of error), up to a certain clock, thermals and voltage allowing. (I'll be honest, I don't know what that clock is with Thuban, but PD will stay within 98% or so 'till 5Ghz and possibly higher).

Not to say it will scale that well in other things, but this is a CPU benchmark (and a well-threaded one at that), and as such it should be sensitive to the clockspeed changes more then anything. Unless you're bandwidth starved or something. Cinebench is the same way more or less.

Hi all,
My CPU VID is 1.332V (excellent sample for LN2, i guess). I suppose that is why I have overheating problems after 4.8GHz. When benching on 5GHz, core temp. reached 68.8°C stun.gif , while CPU socket remained at 55-57°C.
Anyway, here are my scores.

EDIT: I forgot to put the score at stock (4.0GHz)

5.0 GHz

after looking at this and I am glad to see there is very commin ground between the 2

the one OC that is 4.5 and the other that is 4.6

saying this, that means that the chips seem to be almost the same from 2 different batches. also that the code is about right as well. now we just need to see what cpu works best with the bench mark at stock settings - but that is hard to come by as some will falsify there so called settings to be on the top
