Buying an Alienware M11X R2 in 2013? Too outdated? Thoughts? - Page 2

I actually have an M11x R2. The ULV i5/i7 is such a weak POS I had to bump the base clock to 160 and unlock the TDP to stop it from bottlenecking the GT335M. Of course once you do THAT you tend to run into overheating issues. If I play for about an hour without propping up my laptop cpu temps hit 90C.

Its an OK machine. I can play source games at good fps (usually never drops below 60fps). for your money though, its not worth it.

Thread Starter
Thanks for all the responses guys. This thread convinced me not to get it and save up for something a bit better and more modern, since it'll last me longer.

Also, have these been reliable machines besides the hinge issue? The one I am thinking about is out of warranty. Thanks for any feedback.

I own an M11x R2, and I have found it to be quite aged. Yes you can play Bf3, and BLOPS II, but def not on any high settings. It is great because it is portable. I guess it all depends on what you are trying to do with it. I just bought a new Sager Notebook, and thought I would sell my M11x, but I can't seem to part with it..
