Samsung Galaxy S IV GPU PowerVR SGX 544MP3 vs S III Adreno 225 (non-international)

Hello,

I currently own a Galaxy S3. It feels slow sometimes and I would like a more powerful smartphone. I have the Galaxy S3 i747m which feature the dual core (not the quad core) and the Adreno 225 (not the ARM's Mali 400).

I am quite seduced by the double quad-core featuring 70% power saving and higher performance, the 1080p display resolution, gorilla glass 3 that is advertised as being 3 times tougher than gorilla glass 2.

I already like the camera on the galaxy S3 and I don't take many pictures. Having a better camera is a nice bonus. The 4.8' screen is already too big for me to use with a single hand but even if I had the option to get a smaller display phone I would not as this is so much more useful for surfing and reading that I don't mind using my two hands (anyway I type faster with two hands so heh).
I do not mind a 5'' display.

The ultimate argument that would make me instant buy the S4 is its GPU.
Samsung is said to use the PowerVR SGX 544MP3 which is the GPU manufacturer used in all Apple devices. This GPU is used in the Iphone 5 but rumored being clocked twice faster for roughly 40-50% more GPU power.

I am wondering how this GPU is doing compared to the ARM's Mali-400/MP4 or the Adreno 225 that is slower than the mali (I don't know by how much though).

Is there any other advantage for samsung to switch to Power VR vs ARM beside faster GPU?
Apple has 10% of Power VR share so by buying GPU from them they actually benefit to apple hence my questioning.

The PowerVR SGX GPU destroys the MALI 400.

Anyway where did you read that the SGS4 will have the PowerVR SGX?

The GS3 felling slow has nothing to do with the CPU and frankly even CPU. Its just the OS.

I didn't say galaxy S4 will have the Power VR sgx544mp3, I said the galaxy s4 is said to have a Power VR.

Google is your friend:
http://www.google.ca/#hl=fr&tbo=d&sclient=psy-ab&q=powervr+sgx544mp3+galaxy+s4&oq=powervr+sgx544mp3+galaxy+s4&gs_l=hp.3...10028.10145.1.10258.2.2.0.0.0.1.216.216.2-1.1.0...0.0...1c.1.cg5iTAsu1zA&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&bvm=bv.41248874,d.dmQ&fp=b8ab93c0a5767108&biw=1920&bih=1099

I don't know the exact source I got it from but this rumor is reported by many sites.

As for the galaxy s3 feeling slow, when I receive text, I get a good 1-2 sec of lagging. Very annoying. When I do rapid action the cellphone have abnormal delay (above the 200-300ms digitizer latency). In multitasking the phone is quite poor when switching of application. I do a lot of switching music/text/pdf/game/etc. and the phone is often lagging between switch (it does not happen all the time though, only if I go really heavy).

Now I also added avast to protect my rooted device so I expect even more load on the phone.

Just checked some news about the S4. So far it appears the Mali T604 is the ARM possible upgrade route.

How would this compare to the adreno 225?

The Samsung Galaxy S4 will most likely feature the new MALI GPU.

Does anyone know how much power the Mali-T604 GPU will have over the MALI 400?

ARM said that the Mali-T604 GPU will have 10X more power than the MALI 400.

There are no benchmarks that I know of that prove this.

This PowerVR SGX 544MP3 has a Tripple Core GPU compares to Adreno 300. So, in the end PowerVR SGX 544MP3 beats Adreno 300 or 225 period. Galaxy S4 has PowerVR SGX 544MP3 which is the same GPU that the iPhone 5 has.
