I meant the Phanteks is probably one of the best single tower heatsinks out there, it can't compete with the other Phanteks, the NH-D14, Silver Arrow etc but it can probably compete with things like the Archon SB-E.

I would love to see a Phanteks PH-TC12DX vs Thermalright Archon SB-E comparison straight on.

But unfortnuately after a bit thinking, that would require at least 2-3 weeks, before a review with those two head-on, would be active. I did e'mail xbitlabs about it. And they said the review with those two fighting it out, should be ready somewhere end of february.

Thats just too long time for me to wait. If I dont recieve the screw replacement from Phanteks tomorrow, I will have to RMA the whole heatsink to caseking.de
And then get a new Phanteks ph-tc14pe back ASAP. As I dont wanna wait end of february, to see how that single tower PH-TC12DX performs.hmmsmiley02.gif

Of course I could just tell caseking.de I would want that PH-TC12DX instead. But its just a bit of gamble, when I dont know how it performs against coolers like Archon SB-E / Noctua NH-U12P Special Edition SE2 / NZXT Havik 140 or 120.

You are blowing smoke with no fire to back it up. biggrin.gif

It will compete with similar design and size coolers. Coolers like TS120, NH-U12P, etc. Archon is twice the pipes, more than twice the pipe surface cooling area because Archon is taller. Archon also has much more fin area and larger number of fins.. All of which mean more cooling potential.

I'm sure it will prove to be a great little cooler. But there are many better cooler in the same £40-45.00 price range.

I'm just speculating because I could only find two benchmarks.

I use biggest / baddest not because I need their cooling capacity, but because they cool better and are quieter in all applications... But the ego boost when I open up the case and here "That thing is huge!" is nice too. wink.gif

I know. But I just couldn't couldn't resist the temptation of jabbing you a little. Hope I didn't draw any blood or leave any bruises. biggrin.gif

It is a pretty little cooler. That is for sure.

The difference between the top 10 coolers and these 4 pipe 120mm fan cooler on stock CPU's isn't much, but they are usually a little louder. The difference is when you start overclocking. They just aren't big enough to get rid of the extra heat.

The Archon with two Fans performs on par with the Silver Arrow sbe etc.
Im pretty sure that it will outperform the Phantex 12DX.

Indeed.

Only real difference is Archon is single tower instead of twin tower. Archon is 8x 6mm pipes with 2x 140mm fans... SA SB-E is 8x 6mm pipes with 140mm & 150mm fans, but 150mm moves similar air to 140mm.
