I hated the xonar xs control panel so I'm going up a notch.

The ASUS Xonar Essence STX would be a better option over the Creative XFI Titanium HD because of the Dolby DSPs.

Dolby headphone and creative's CMSS are pretty darn close.

Frankly, I think the Titanium HD or the new Zx will get what you want for considerably cheaper than the STX.

I went with the titanium HD. I didn't go for the Asus because I did not want to be stuck with a control panel like the one from the DX, which was too small and very unclear as to what things did. I do believe the control panel for the recon3d is better than the one from the titanium HD but I can live with it for better music quality.

The recon series was trash, but the Z series is brand new. The Zx has good components and better drivers than the titanium HD.

I couldnt get the Z series at the brick and mortar store I went to. Plus I got the X-Fi Titanium HD for cheaper than it was on Amazon or Newegg and I did not have to wait for it to show up at my door step.
