Reinstalling Windows - Moving Savegames

I'll be reinstalling Windows here pretty soon as I got some new core components for my PC. There are multiple games I haven't finished yet but am too far into the game to want to start over from the beginning.

Has anyone here used GameSave Manager or have any other suggestions?

If you are using steam most(not all) will back up to steam cloud, the others you can backup the old fashioned way and restore them later. One thing I started doing was pointing dropbox at my game saves folder just in case to catch the ones that use that folder.

Copy paste to a external hard drive or something that won't get destroyed during the reinstall. Compared to a cloud based service or program to do it all automatically its the old fashioned way.

Are all saved games in the My Documents folder then? What about registry keys?

Ok, just in case anyone else has the same question:

It doesn't work, plain and simple.

Most game saves if not in the documents folder are in the appdata folder. Some are also in the programs folder as well.

What do you mean it doesn't work?

Sorry, I meant the program I had referred to in my original post, Game Save Manager doesn't work.

I just reinstalled Windows and the program did not restore the savegames as I had hoped it would. I ran a backup before reinstalling Windows and then a 'Restore Savegames' with Game Save Manager after reinstallation and it didn't restore any of the save games.

Ah, it's easier just to do it manually to be honest. It takes a bit longer but it's worth it.
