The Gigabyte isn't a cheap board, it does everything you need from a motherboard, you could even do LN2 just fine on it (not the case for the Extreme4).

Checkout Sin's review which includes circuitry testings:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1252290/z77x-ud3h-review-and-oc-testing-circuit-analysis-ln2-runs-efficiency-comparison/0_20
(that's the UD3H, exact same board but with 2oz Copper PCB and onboard OC buttons and voltage read points)

Not specifically better than any other good board with good VRM's thumb.gif the board is a bit short on SATA ports through from what I've seen.

I'm not planning on LN2 cooling tongue.gif And I only need 1 or 2 SATA ports, so that's all good.

I will be reading reviews the couple of days to make a good decision smile.gif

Maybe a dumb question (and I should probably know), but what has an upgrade path: 1155 or 2011? My understanding is that Haswell will not be 1155. But will Ivy Bridge-E or Haswell-E (if such critters come to be) be 2011?

Thank you all for replying and helping me out
xtreme4 uses d-pak mosfets which produce oodles of heat. not good mosfets. badbadbad.

good choice, 3570k is cheap but unlocked multiplier = way powerful gaming CPU
get a good mobo and you'll be sitting tight thumb.gif (like me!)
