What would you do:

- Buy a cheap but decent Z77 board and a 3570K/3770K and upgrade in a year/year and a half??
- Or would you buy a X79 board with a 3820 and only upgrade the 3820 later??

Money isn't really an issue, but I don't want to waste it offcourse tongue.gif.I really want to start gaming a.s.a.p. tongue.gif

Really appreciate any help!! thumb.gif

for gaming a 3570K will do, i have a 3770K tho, maybe in time the games will be more demanding, so my extra threads will help..
buy a good gpu, that will help you more in gaming then the difference between 3570/3770K or 3820,
its not like with those in a year you cant play the latest games anymore,
i think my build will be good for at least 2-3 years..

Check my build... 1155 Sniper 3 3770k and I am up there punching with the big guys with thier "Superior" 3930k.

For pure gaming 3570k OCed to 4.5ghz with two GPUs (7970 or 670s will do just go with your taste) will be far superior to any 2011 gaming rigs.

Spend a bit more and get a mobo with a PLX chip and you can go Quad GPU even!

FYI 7970's perform better, overclock a bit better, and scale better as well, someone correct me if I'm wrong by that's why I'm going from my 560 Ti 448 --> 7970 instead of a 670 since I run @ 1440p need all the single GPU muscle I can get tongue.gif

i have a 7970, but if you gonna buy one, watch and ask if its voltage unlocked,
seems some company's started hardware voltage lock them,. of course i bought one like that ..dang..
but still, out of the box, not bad when i tried BF3 ..lol(compared with my 6850 biggrin.gif )

Just remember that if you have two or more really high-end cards (670 or more, 7950 or more) you might start to experience a bottleneck in PCIE lanes, as there is a limit on z77. Some boards like my G1.Sniper 3 have a PLX chip that alleviates that to some degree but you'll still get better performance out of X79, especially with 3 or 4 cards

Personally I don't see any reason to NOT go with X79. It seems to have longevity that 1155 chipsets lack.

If you go X79 I would suggest the following motherboards (ATX):
Gigabyte G1 Assassin 2
Asus Sabertooth
ASRock X79 Extreme 9
Asus Maximus IV

If you go z77 I would suggest the following motherboards (ATX):
Gigabyte G1.Sniper 3 (I have and love it, built in mid-level gaming soundcard, beats the heck out of Realtek onboard, also has a PLX chip for x32 PCIE 3.0 lanes)
Gigabyte Z77X-UP7
Asus z77 Sabertooth
Maximus V Formula/ThunderFX (ROG and comes with a decent external DAC)

The catch is that per core the 3770k is better!

Also reading the review by Anandtech on PLX equipped Z77 mobos it shows that the performance loss between X79 and Z77 with plx is within 1%!

Best way to go is this... find a delided 3770k with low voltages (1.3v for 4.8ghz) and enjoy lower heat and very comparable performance at a lower cost.

You save 200$ on the mobo alone and another $300 on the gpu... add $100 and you get yourself a pair of 7950s that will rip apart anything you throw against them all the way up to1440p.

I agree with him in that you should go with a pair of 7950's

>$600 and you get KILLER performance.

That looks good, I will get BF3 when I'm done building my new rig thumb.gif

First I have to decide what motherboard to get, after that I will worry about a 7970 or 670/680 tongue.gif

I have a lot of reading and comparing to do (I like it)
