Corsair Mini ITX? What do you want? - Page 118

Poll Results: Which features are most important to you in a Mini ITX case?

This is a multiple choice poll
  • 7% of voters (92)
    Size - the smaller the better. I don't need a full GPU, I want a HTPC-style box.
  • 77% of voters (1009)
Size - I want it to be small, but I want a full size GPU and full size PSU in there.
  • 11% of voters (154)
Air cooling - I want lots of fan options, top, sides, back, front.
  • 31% of voters (411)
Air cooling - I want it to perform well out of the box but we don't need to perforate every single panel.
  • 25% of voters (329)
"Sleek, Modern" Design - The BitFenix Prodiigy, NZXT Phantom Series, Corsair 600T and other cases with unique designs are my favorite.
  • 49% of voters (646)
"Refined, Aluminum" Design - Silverstone, Lian-Li, and Corsair Obsidian Series are more my speed.
  • 34% of voters (454)
Quiet - I want this thing whisper quiet.
  • 45% of voters (596)
Liquid Cooling - it'd be nice to be able to fit a 240mm radiator in this thing
  • 7% of voters (97)
HDD Capacity - I want to make a RAID or NAS box, so I want at least four 3.5" drive bays
  • 36% of voters (477)
HDD Capacity - I just plan on running an OS and a storage drive - two or three drive bays is fine as long as there's native SSD support.
  • 18% of voters (246)
Portability - handles and whatnot are really important to me. So is overall weight and durability.
  • 19% of voters (255)
Scent - I like all my computer products to be scratch and sniff. Please make this smell like Lilacs.
  • 2% of voters (32)
    Other - posted in thread.

Edit: I see the case is already pretty much finished. Oh well, here's my list anyway.

I would love a small HTPC case like Silverstone's offerings. I have Steam Machine fever.

  • Front USB3 ports
  • NO front door
  • The ability to fit a single full-size GPU somewhere with a PCIe riser cable while keeping the case low profile (no other case can do this)
  • Include the riser cable
  • Plenty of fan placement options and air vents
  • Removable HDD cage
  • ATX PSU support

Price this under $100, and I will definitely build my Steam Machines with it.

I already did smile.gif Silverstone SG05. I'll also probably swap my ATX tower for a FT03 mATX or SG10 depending, but definitely one of the two.Actually corsair's case is about SG10's size, something I didn't like about the Phenom/Prodigy ITX. Also, the prodigy is popular because it's cheap, corsair's case is $90. It's not expensive, but people will look at options in that price bracket .

I'd love something small, doesn't have to be under $100 for me though. I'd love something like this: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

(for comparison with my main rig biggrin.gif)

but that supports fitting big stuff (like that guy did) without zip ties.

FWIW, I have that case as well, and I'd prefer the layout to be shorter and wider. The "steam machine", or VCR/HTPC version of SFF is what I'd love to see. I only need so many rigs with 2x /3x GPUs. sometimes I just want super tiny with a legit GPU.

I would have been fine with these features:

- Full Length GPU
- SSD cages only
- As small and silent as possible. I don't really need a h100i.

I could really care less for HDD's these days.... You can build a NAS if you need storage.

Are there any cases like this out yet?

What rivals the SG05 or Node 304?

It seems the Node 304 is built more for a NAS than really a gaming build. I don't need all their cages to be honest.

I agree with your needs. I have similar ones. I have the node 304 and I threw out all drive cages and tucked away 2 ssds somewhere. Now they could make the node as high as a GPU's height thereby restricting big air coolers(I have an NH-D14 in there). Would a lower node look nice? I don't know. But if you flip it on its side then it does;) ncase m1 is the ultimate space efficient case that allows a long GPU(up to 3 slots even). You cannot go smaller unless you go with short GPUs and ultimately the limiting factor of size then becomes the PSU. So we need smaller PSUs smaller than SFX, and we need high end GPUs as long as a mITX board yet quiet.

What if you took the SG-08, and rotated the PSU on it's side, with the fan using some front side vents for intake? You could then probably use any PSU you wanted, specifically something modular. Remove the optical drive slot, and just give options for 2.5'' storage. I managed to squeeze a Velociraptor in one of the SG-08's 2.5'' slots, and there are plenty of 1TB laptop drives if you need internal storage.

You'd still have the flexibility of 12'' video cards, and a decent cooling space above the motherboard. Maybe allow the back panel and sides to have removable caps for the vents, so you can customize airflow. Basically be optimizing the SG-08 for size and getting rid of non-essentials.

If only it were more readily available.

This case is a bad joke!!! 30L?!!
Is this really what your going to release as your first mini-ITX(!) case after all this good suggestions I saw here?!
Makes me think that this whole thread was just for you to raise interest...
How else could you possibly end up showing ANOTHER Prodigy copy?!

This is definetly not something many of us have waited for!!!

Look at the results of the poll! SMALL size but full size PSU and GPU (by far!)...
Now let's also pack in an full size tower cooler and you should end up with 10-15L!!!

...this one is 10L (SG05) but with a little more for wiring and 2-3 2,5'' drives just under 15L would be possible!

...

I'm done here... doh.gif
My car only has 4.8L, and it's more than enough! tongue.gif

imagine a 30L motor! silly comparison, I know, but still.
