Corsair Mini ITX? What do you want? - Page 16

Poll Results: Which features are most important to you in a Mini ITX case?

This is a multiple choice poll
  • 7% of voters (92)
    Size - the smaller the better. I don't need a full GPU, I want a HTPC-style box.

Size - I want it to be small, but I want a full size GPU and full size PSU in there.
  • 11% of voters (154)
Air cooling - I want lots of fan options, top, sides, back, front.
  • 31% of voters (411)
Air cooling - I want it to perform well out of the box but we don't need to perforate every single panel.
  • 25% of voters (329)
"Sleek, Modern" Design - The BitFenix Prodiigy, NZXT Phantom Series, Corsair 600T and other cases with unique designs are my favorite.
  • 49% of voters (646)
"Refined, Aluminum" Design - Silverstone, Lian-Li, and Corsair Obsidian Series are more my speed.
  • 34% of voters (454)

HDD Capacity - I want to make a RAID or NAS box, so I want at least four 3.5" drive bays
  • 36% of voters (477)
HDD Capacity - I just plan on running an OS and a storage drive - two or three drive bays is fine as long as there's native SSD support.
  • 18% of voters (246)
Portability - handles and whatnot are really important to me. So is overall weight and durability.
  • 19% of voters (255)

Brushed aluminum!!! I would love to see that. Also, fully modular components such as drive cages. I like to use tiny drives and mount them with velcro or similar. Improves airflow and reduces clutter.

Size similar to Bitfenix Prodigy would be great, in the sense that a case meant for a mITX motherboard but still allows for a good size graphics card + PSU is most practical nowadays.

It would make the case too long for very little performance gain...
Using 3 slim 120mm sections throughout the case would yield much better temps than a single thick 240mm radiator. So don't think it's a good idea from space saving perspective...

I am sorry, but it doesn't make any sense. It's not the first time an expansion card is being mounted using an extender (this is what extenders are for!), and if he wanted this idea all for himself only, he would be no better than *******s at Apple.

You're misunderstanding what he said. He was explaining that Josh designed the case, and submitted the case design for review and possible production, but that the company rejected it, then stole the design and made it anyway, without giving credit to the original designer, Josh.

That's unfortunate.
However, I still don't see how that should prevent every other manufacturer from ever using the idea of mounting a PCI-E card using an extender. Nothing mind-blowing about it.
I am not suggesting to copy the whole case.

It not about other manufacturers copying the design. It's just about one company not giving credit due to where the initial design for their product came from.

I know it's a bad thing to do, okay.

But what does forbidding other manufacturers to use similar design accomplish in this case? Digital Storm will keep selling the case regardless. Josh is not getting any money for it. And since you are saying that no other manufacturers should use similar design, you are essentially granting the right of exclusivity to the manufacturer who ripped Josh off. And since the design is quite clever, people will be interested in buying such cases, thus will bring Digital Storm extra profit that could have gone to, say, Corsair.

What you are suggesting is not helping anyone but Digital Storm.

I understand what you're saying, and I'm not disagreeing on that. I'm just saying that others using the design as well doesn't excuse DS from stealing the design, and that I empathize with Josh on the situation.
