Corsair Mini ITX? What do you want? - Page 22

Poll Results: Which features are most important to you in a Mini ITX case?

This is a multiple choice poll
  • 7% of voters (92)
    Size - the smaller the better. I don't need a full GPU, I want a HTPC-style box.
  • 77% of voters (1009)
Size - I want it to be small, but I want a full size GPU and full size PSU in there.
  • 11% of voters (154)
Air cooling - I want lots of fan options, top, sides, back, front.
  • 31% of voters (411)
Air cooling - I want it to perform well out of the box but we don't need to perforate every single panel.
  • 25% of voters (329)
"Sleek, Modern" Design - The BitFenix Prodiigy, NZXT Phantom Series, Corsair 600T and other cases with unique designs are my favorite.
  • 49% of voters (646)
"Refined, Aluminum" Design - Silverstone, Lian-Li, and Corsair Obsidian Series are more my speed.
  • 34% of voters (454)
Quiet - I want this thing whisper quiet.
  • 45% of voters (596)
Liquid Cooling - it'd be nice to be able to fit a 240mm radiator in this thing
  • 7% of voters (97)
HDD Capacity - I want to make a RAID or NAS box, so I want at least four 3.5" drive bays
  • 36% of voters (477)
HDD Capacity - I just plan on running an OS and a storage drive - two or three drive bays is fine as long as there's native SSD support.
  • 18% of voters (246)
Portability - handles and whatnot are really important to me. So is overall weight and durability.
  • 19% of voters (255)
Scent - I like all my computer products to be scratch and sniff. Please make this smell like Lilacs.
  • 2% of voters (32)
    Other - posted in thread.

My front-runner (I've been doing more research) is currently the NCASE M1, but it's not perfect.

Clean exterior (Fractal, Silverstone, etc.)
At least 240 rad support.
ATX PSU support
Somewhere to fit a D5. Yes there's the DDC, but it's a noisy f*cker.
3 PCI slots

I think the main thing to set Corsair's ITX case apart from the rest is the layout of the internals and way space is utilized.

I'd say with TDP's on both CPU's and GPU's dropping, air cooling is making a come back, since there isn't as much as before to dissipate.

I'm exclusively into air-cooling now, so on that basis. A mini-ITX case that would take 165cm tower CPU coolers, and 3 slot GPU's and it would be whisper quite and cool very efficiently.

So like we did with the "How would you change the 800D?" thread (which helped adjust the 900D feature set to be more to your liking) we're looking to you guys to tell us what you want.

There's no guarantee that any of this will get used, or that the Mini ITX products will ever see the light of day (or maybe we'll launch one tomorrow! who knows?) but at the very least this gives you a chance to have your voices heard.

So go nuts. Let me know what you guys like.

EDIT 1: Even though an ITX case would be great from you peeps, I would much rather see a color customizable or more color optioned motherboard from you. There are not many good color coordinated motherboards in the market and when we do find a good blue color it's has some stupid colors to go with it. GigaByte is good for that, Blue Yellow Orange, if I wanted multicolored I would eat Skittles or Fruit Loops.

Ah man, this makes me want to wait then to see what you bring out. Is there an idea for some sort of general release date that you are shooting for?

EDIT 2: You make me always question my builds by coming out with new things as soon as I am settled with my parts, ah!

Optional side panels to mount exterior radiators.

I'll just keep this real simple. I think we all love Corsair products. I trust George & the Corsair team on the design. My only input is this. Aesthetics.

I think it would be real cool to have the 900D sitting at home for my mega rig. Then have a look-a-like Mini-ITX box for travel, LAN parties & such. I'll use Velcro for two SSDs so skip the crazy storage support. I will not be using an optical drive either. So skip that support as well. If we ever need an optical, they make USB versions. Brushed aluminum exterior with rad support for one 240 or 280mm. Like I said, a look-a-like of its big brother.

That's it. Just my two cents. Corsair rocks so I'm sure we'll all love whatever you come up with. smile.gif

It might be just me, but I find the Obsidian series really ugly. I think it's mostly because of the sharp edges. Some people (obviously enough to warrant the case's construction) like that, but I really don't. To me it feels like it's unfinished or something. Slightly rounded edges, or even a slight curve somewhere, show a lot of refined style. (Think FT03 type corners)
