Poll Results: Which features are most important to you in a Mini ITX case?

This is a multiple choice poll

Size - I want it to be small, but I want a full size GPU and full size PSU in there.
  • 11% of voters (154)
Air cooling - I want lots of fan options, top, sides, back, front.
  • 31% of voters (411)
Air cooling - I want it to perform well out of the box but we don't need to perforate every single panel.
  • 25% of voters (329)
"Sleek, Modern" Design - The BitFenix Prodiigy, NZXT Phantom Series, Corsair 600T and other cases with unique designs are my favorite.
  • 49% of voters (646)

HDD Capacity - I want to make a RAID or NAS box, so I want at least four 3.5" drive bays
  • 36% of voters (477)
HDD Capacity - I just plan on running an OS and a storage drive - two or three drive bays is fine as long as there's native SSD support.
  • 18% of voters (246)
Portability - handles and whatnot are really important to me. So is overall weight and durability.
  • 19% of voters (255)

I want something like the FT-03 mini: being able to fit a full size GPU without wasting any space. I do want to be able to fit full size PSU's. Hard drive cages are not necessary, a 500gb 840 samsung ssd for 300 euro is all I need. And make it brushed aluminium or a carbon fiber wrap.
It's really great that you guys are asking for our input corsair! I am going to build a pc soon and I was hesitating between the style of the 650D and the "portability" of the bitfenix prodigy. But maybe I will be able to get a nice compromise. Just make a mini-itx Obsidian style. Thanks thumb.gif

No front connectors would be nice...... They ruin cases...

I think the audio connectors do, I prefer to hook up audio devices straight into the back of my computer, although front usb 3.0 slots are just fine.

I am gonna agree, I think just a couple of USB slots is enough for the front panel. thumb.gif

I use the usbs on the front of my sg05, but the audio connectors, much like any cheap audio connector act really weired like you are shoving the wrong thing into the port and it takes a ton of effort to plug stuff into it, it's a waste because manufacturers put cheap connectors on the front so they need to just stop putting them and save even more money.

I don't know if you know what I mean, but they just dont work, the port starts shoving the headphones plugged into them outward and just gets difficult to use.

The way I see it....

-Full VGA compatibility. Sure, no need to make room for 12" products, but up to 11" should be plenty.
-A decent compatibility with cpu-related cooling products. No need to fit a full tower heatsink, but at least 100mm to have room for a decent HTPC heatsink, and/or space for an AIO liquid cooling solution.
-No ODD, or a slim one.
-1 x 3.5" and 1 x 2.5"
-The smaller the better

That would be, for me, the ideal mITX. It's important not to go the Prodigy route as that case is MASSIVE in size. I'd try to aim for a 15L design, as something bigger than that would be simply too big for no reason. A good example would be the NCASE M1, that is in the prototype design. Its a very flexible case, but very small overall (12L).

Also, Corsair could try an unconventional design using a pci-e riser. This way you could make the case slimmer...
