Corsair Mini ITX? What do you want? - Page 10

Poll Results: Which features are most important to you in a Mini ITX case?

This is a multiple choice poll
  • 7% of voters (92)
    Size - the smaller the better. I don't need a full GPU, I want a HTPC-style box.

Size - I want it to be small, but I want a full size GPU and full size PSU in there.
  • 11% of voters (154)
Air cooling - I want lots of fan options, top, sides, back, front.
  • 31% of voters (411)
Air cooling - I want it to perform well out of the box but we don't need to perforate every single panel.
  • 25% of voters (329)
"Sleek, Modern" Design - The BitFenix Prodiigy, NZXT Phantom Series, Corsair 600T and other cases with unique designs are my favorite.
  • 49% of voters (646)

HDD Capacity - I want to make a RAID or NAS box, so I want at least four 3.5" drive bays
  • 36% of voters (477)
HDD Capacity - I just plan on running an OS and a storage drive - two or three drive bays is fine as long as there's native SSD support.
  • 18% of voters (246)

  • 19% of voters (255)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I think Caselabs cases are gorgeous in white. Sleek looking and clean. I'm not into the GaMeR!!!XXXTREEMMEEE looking cases.

But back on topic. Someone said 2 h100's mounted beside eachother, why? Why would anyone want a mITX case that is around 260mm+ squared? That's like putting an itx board in a HAF XB.
Yeah, the 2 h100's is a little overkill, they were talking about having corsair make their own version of "the mod" to use one of the h100's on the gpu.

And some of the crazy look at me cases do look nice, but the majority do not. I do prefer minimalistic designs though, I love the simplicity of the silverstone sugo sg05, but I was also looking into the nzxt phantom before I decided to go the sff route. The case labs are incredibly nice in white, I do agree with that. smile.gif

A sleek design, possibly aluminum. Decent cable management is a must and enough room for a decent sized gpu. Then I might switch back to itx for my next build. thumb.gif

An ITX case where you can use either mITX or mATX motherboards without heavy modifications. A few bolts/screws and the right tray can be inserted thumb.gif

Other:

I REALLY like the design of the C70, especially in green biggrin.gif
How about making it look like an ammo case, but with 2 full height expansion slots, mini itx, and 2-3 hdd slots. also, at least 1 5.25" bay.
then, put room for a 240mm rad on top, and maybe two 80mm on front and back.
If you are pressed for space, you could enev go with an SFX psu, they come in up to 450 watts now, and fully modular!

Basically, make it like a mini C70, and make it army green!

Call it "C70 Mini" or somthing like that.

Thanks Corsair!!!! you guys rock!

After going from a regular ATX build to a mini-ITX I love the small size. I currently have the Cooler Master Elite 120 case...Here's my beef:

1. You absolutely HAVE to make it fit a FULL SIZED GPU! 2 slots is a must and leave some breathing room for the GPU.
2. DO NOT, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT have a drive bay in the case! The future is SSd's, SSD's are small! There's no need for a huge drive bay in a tiny case, it takes up WAY too much space and its just a huge wall to overcome in the case.
3. Allow CWC's! With GPU's and CPU's getting more and more efficient, heat is (hopefully) becoming less and less, thus coolers don't need to be massive. Corsair 120 rad coolers are plenty sufficient for cooling the CPU and GPU. Design the case where there's at least 1 or 2 full size 120mm fan bays that can accept a 120mm rad as well.
4. Gotta have a full size PSU. If they're going to make decent power mini-Itx cases, gotta be able to fit a full size one then.
5. Brushed aluminum is quite the style right now, Stick with that and give it a nice high quality look with little plastic.

I own the SG05, and here are my thoughts on what can improve it (its design is nearly flawless):

Silverstone's mini PSUs are rock solid and easily power my GTX 670. I'm not sure why people think a full sized one is needed...Corsair should def. try to put one of these out. I know you guys have the skills.

Must fit a 10" GPU at least.

USB 3.0 for sure.

Other than that, I'm not sure what else you need. There's more than enough room for an mITX case that fits a full size PSU and one that only accepts a micro PSU, I think.

Yes the sfx psu does do well, but I think there should actually be up to 12" gpus, and an easy way to get them in. My shorter gtx670 has to be hoisted into the sg05, and an amd card just wont fit tongue.gif

Being capped at 450W currently makes me nervous with the SFX sized PSU's. I'd rather have a full modular PSU as well.
