used this on borderlands 2 at 3200x1800, and boy does it look sweet! at first I still had fxaa on and it looked a little blurry, turned it off and I swear the image cleared up alot, will be trying other games with this method now! Thanks for posting. smile.gif

So what happens if my monitor doesn't scale correctly? Could it be because I'm using display port? I remember running into this when running the all benchmark in catzilla mode, I was wondering how my monitor was doing 2560x1440 everything downsampled/scaled correctly there I wonder why its not working correctly now? Its like the monitor is actually trying to display the full resolution as if it was big enough instead of scaling it to fit inside the monitor...

EDIT*** Its Over-scanning DUH! Only problem is IDK how to fix it i played with the overscan options in the driver creator but no work =[

BUT! This is also for those games, that do not have proper AA. One other good example of a game that benefits greatly from this, is Deus Ex. The game is a jaggy fest even with SMAA... with DS and SMAA, jaggies are non-existent.

So it's also usable by people with lower end system, for games that are already running well and could use extra help to get them looking their best.

How did you manage to get it to work with DMC4?
The max resolution stays at 1080p for me even tough it works with other games.

go into your monitor on screen display settings, overscan should be in there thumb.gif

Go to your username>appdata>local>capcom>devilmaycry4 and there will be a config.ini file. Simply open it and the section where it says 1920 and 1080... change it to whatever resolution you want. That's it.

I tried that already its greyed out, I cant interact with it. On a side note I got it running at 3840x2160 @ 120hz if only I could get this stoopid overscan fixedd..I just ran catzilla again it scaled fine so it is possible for this monitor...I also only saw about a 10 frame performance hit in comparison to tiger, and I think the version of catzilla I have only utilizes 1 card...

I find that, without FXAA, there's always some jagginess to the outlines. I play with SweetFX though, and use a bit of sharpening to deal with blur. Here are some examples smile.gif

Just tried that and every time i start the game it keeps resetting to 1920x1080

You could add that the pixel clock limit for single link DVI is 165 MHz, dual link DVI is ~500MHz depending on cable quality/length, and DisplayPort seems to top out at 270 MHz even though it should be able to go up to 540MHz.

As well you could link to the original thread from 2011 that has quite a lot more detailed info: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=346325 The GAF thread doesn't even attempt to explain the importance of the Total Vertical and Horizontal pixels in the manual timings, which is ludicrous, since those are the two adjustments that determine the maximum resolution that can be reached.

For reference, here is my setup for 3840x1620 on my 29" 21:9 display (2560x1080 native):



If you'll notice the 4000 Total Horizontal pixels, I would have never known to adjust that if I were going off the GAF thread. The default is 2720 which doesn't permit any custom resolutions higher than 2560 wide.
