Asus 7970 matrix plat, STUTTERING on all games! - Page 11

You honestly might be better off with a 680. 7970's can be a pain to troubleshoot and if Nvidia has an advantage over AMD its that they are usually plug and play. Just a thought...

Everything seems fine so far, I dont think anything is wrong as I always find the best test is just regular pc use, anyway tests are passing etc, I know its only been just over an hour, I will run it overnight before I go to sleep. But seems fine at the moment, bearing in mind im on a cheap £15 arctic cooling CPU fan (better than stock I suppose) and in its hitting no more than 72degrees under full constant load.

I think maybe I shall just put up with the fps drops and give AMD a chance with newer drivers as I don't think these 13.1 cata are much diff to 12.11 beta drivers, I think there are some new ones coming out very soon, maybe tomorrow? or next week.

I shall give this card another week on arrival of the new drivers. Again, thanks for all your help I cant stress that enough! I really appreciate it man

Just a last advice. Because from what i can understand its your first high end card so the possibility of user error is big. Install again the windows and install the 12.11 beta + caps.Dont install radeon pro or anything else.

That's what I keep thinking. 7970's can be tough to troubleshoot (took me ages to get mine working right) and my experience with Nvidia was much smoother as a noob. AMD does reward you with better performance if you can work out the bugs but Nvidia cards are far easier to deal with...

yeh. Im not a noob btw, im just asking for advice on why my card is doing that, I know Amd can be great but the drivers are pretty bad, But why sould I iron the bugs out? shouldnt that be a standard for video cards? if you know what im saying?

Btw, just to clarify im not a noob, Im just pretty new to OC'ing the newer hardware, Thanks guys.

I have always bought top end cards btw, and for me... this is the worst experience I have ever had with a top end GPU. By Far.

Nope the drivers is not bad. You havent tried eyefinity with cf. For single cards the drivers is just fine.

Sorry but,you are in x fire so.. its kinda diff, can you do me a favor and see how a single card performs?

AMD produce awful drivers tbh, so maybe I should just jump ship

I have a second pc with a 965 and a single 7970. Running 12.11 and they are solid drivers even if i get bottlenecked from my cpu. With this oen i played mp3 with 2xmsaa and i never dropped from 60 fps.

Because you are frustrated it doesnt mean that amd produce awful drivers. You can easily search threads about the same in nvidia section. Its dumb atm to choose brands based on the drivers.Nvidia is more plug and play but it doesnt give you the performance of a 7970 matrix at all. If we talked when the 7970 released then its other thing because back then yeah the drivers was awful. The next week is the new 13.2 beta. Wait and try them. Also you can take your card and check her on an other system.
