If you're going to get a non-reference 680 I'd suggest getting MSI's Lightning. Best 680 on the market in my opinion...

what about triple sli of these? how does that compare? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-109-GI&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=2379

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply there are any issues with NV in single GPU scenarios just that weird uncommon things can happen like you're having with an AMD card in your rig.

I would suggest going at least 660ti/670 and nothing under if you're going NV.

Pretty much this ^, there is very little argument that the lightnings are the best 680 cards on the market.

Though if you want to be a bit more frugal and save some cash I would also recommend this;

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-095-GI

Maybe this if you know anything about the brand and then you could SLI later and never worry about mods or VRAM;

OR, or for the ultimate frugal person, this

Thanks guys, I do have my Msi motherboard, just wondering if mixing it with the msi 680 helps anything? or is it just a brand at the end of the day? I've never really thought about it before. like better compatibility tested with their other products?
Doubt it but I thought id ask!

I think I will go with the msi 680 though.

Thanks again.

No difference at all, I think the only exception are some of the ROG ASUS boards have special connectors for certain GPUs but normally it doesn't matter. Good luck thumb.gif

Hello all, I was having the same problems as you were with my graphics cards. I had 4 7970's before I gave up and went to a GTX 680. The switch STILL didn't fix the problem. Keep in mind I was switching 7970 brands and everything the whole mile. I was still stuttering and getting down clocking issues. So, I tried switching power supplies. No difference. So I called up ASUS and filed an RMA cross ship. I'm waiting to receive the new motherboard, so I'll post with results. Funny thing is, the motherboard I was going to send back, actually failed on me as I was waiting for the new one!

EDIT: I can tell OCN is still having some problems because my sig rig won't update. Anyway, I have a Seasonic x850 and a GTX 680 4GB FTW+. Not the other stuff in my sig.

And the plot thickens!!!!! It could be the mobo but it's wierd how it affects certain scenarios more than others. Let us know how it goes with the new mobo. thumb.gif

Wow, it sucks doesn't it? I don't hold much hope for myself after reading that, we both as the same CPU, is yours overclocked? I wonder if this may factor in somewhere.

Btw my CPU is OC to 4.2, Have you tried your card in another system?

Let us know what happens.

Yeah I agree, I did start to see artifacts on farcry3 though so that's something other than stuttering, also the really bad benchmark results from 905 to 1146 and now back down (even lower) to 888. So to me it doesn't seem like just a stuttering issue, although that does exist.

My card is packaged up so I'm going to send it off when the post office opens.
