Keeping my SLI config cool inside the case

So I'm not really sure where to put this but I figured this would be the best place. I'm ordering a new case and along with it a custom side-panel, specifically this one from MNPCTech. I can choose to have custom drilled fan holes to provide cooling to the GPUs, but I'd really like to keep it clean and without holes. I have two SLI'd 660Ti's that are MSI PowerEdition (TwinFrozr IV) and was wondering if I needed fans on the side to keep them cool enough. If I had to would I be able to get away with one 140mm? Or would I have to use two 120mm? I plan on putting two 120mm on the drive cages in front of the GPUs to provide fresh air to them, will this be enough?

Thanks!

it depends, if you run the cards in pci-e slot 1 and pci-e slot 3 you should be fine because there would be space between them, if you run them stacked you might run into heat issues.

They're running stacked, there's no room on my mobo to run them spaced out. Currently I have two 140s blowing on them from the side and two 120s from the drive cages, they max out at ~62C right now.

Yeah I've got that panel and two 120s on the side but only because I've got three 680s stacked, I think you could definitely get away with a 140 it wouldn't hurt and those panels are so professionally machined.thumb.gif

Yay, thank you, exactly the response I was looking for thumb.gif

I guess I'll be going for a single 140.

i think you'll want air exhausting from the side panel if they are stacked, those video cards just push hot air off the pcb and into the case and it needs to be pulled out, with them stacked you might not have enough static air pressure to push it from the front to the back.

Hmm, never thought of that before. There is and will be three exhaust fans right above them but I'll have to play with the configuration and see what works best.
