Looking to buy B&W MM-1...need advise

I am looking to buy a nice desktop speaker,

is B&W MM-1 a wise choice ?

or I pay lots of premium on the name ?

USB connection means they don't use your soundcard or onboard. I'm not saying they sound bad, but you could do a lot better for $500+. Is space an issue?

space isnt a big issue, but i do want something smaller

it does have a 3.5mm jack
