True not everyone liked it. But hard to compate to a tab targetting game like WoW or GW2. I mean you can attack and cast in GW2 while moving which generally would make fights designed with more movement, not too mention the underwater fights. Then you have wow with its fights, which also being tab target game and with the amount of gear progression WoW is at in its current expansion or even with earlier versions. The fact of being able to tab target means you should be able to do alot more movements combined with raids whch TERA didnt have for a long long time means more movement dependent fights. I mean you couldnt even use 90% of attack while moving in TERA, classes in wow have attacks that can be used while moving specifically to keep dps up on targets during raid/instance encounters.
But i see what you are saying. But it still is hard and a little unfair to compare the combat styles considering how different the PVE aspects are from all 3 games. Honestly though, it was more than just the combat that lead many people away from that game, like another poster above stated. It wasnt westernized enough for our liking, it still had alot of Asian grind aspects to it that people grow very tired of very quickly in the western hemisphere.
Heres to hoping TESO has established a very healthy balance. I like the depth of fights in World of Warcraft end game raiding, but i also was a fan of the real action combat. But I'm also a fan of both styles of combat so really hard for me to be disappointed.
As long has it has a deep skill system, drives players to explore the world with achievements and lore and epic items/rare mobs...world bosses...they could have a good game on their hands.
That was one thing I also didnt like about TERA. The game was beautiful and the draw distance was amazing, yet you were never rewarded for exploring off the beaten path...alot of the stuff way out in the distance was just nothing but terrain.
