Patriot Division 4 Viper Xtreme 16 GB

I just bought this RAM and I didn't notice until after I got home with it that it says "Designed for Intel Xz9 Platforms". I plan on buying a Sabertooth Z77 motherboard, will this ram work on that motherboard?

It says "Only Compatible With X79". What a crock. They say that because it's a Quad-Channel kit, where Sandy/Ivy is Dual. But yes, it will work just fine, even at 1.65v; it's stated 1.5v is recommended for Z77, but there's no danger running it at 1.65. If you feel scared, turn it down to 1.5v, although you may have to dip down to 1600/1333Mhz if it's unstable.

In a nutshell, it will work.

So it may not work at full potential? should I take it back and get a different kind?

It'll work perfectly fine. thumb.gif Quad channel just isn't supported on z77. You won't see any negative impact, though.
