couple of questions for XSPC Raystorm RS360

Thread Starter
Hi OCN, im getting a XSPC raystorm 360 kit in the following week and had a couple questions before it gets here.

question 1: i plan on putting the 360 rad in the front of the case like so :

so my question to you is, is there a way i can raise the rad up higher in the case so the 3 fans align with the front opening?

question 2: since i want to put the rad in the front where it will take up all the room, where else should i mount the pump/res in the case?

heres a side view for those that dont know the inside of a trooper from memory :

would it be possble to maybe mount it down in the area where the small ssd cage is? ive only seen the xspc pump/res combo mounted near the top drive bay so idk if it would have problems being lower in a case.

question 3: would the xspc pump and 360 rad be able to handle 1 gpu if i were to get an additional block for it down the road? or would you recommend getting a second rad or different pump for that?

thanks for any input, and if this just cant work out how i want i can always mount the rad on top of the case and put the pump/res where ive always seen it tongue.gif

Question 1: You would need to drill your own holes to mount the radiator.
Question 2: I dont see many other options than that.
Question 3: The pump is plenty strong enough to run 3-4 blocks with that rad.
i am currently using the rs360 kit but i sold the rad that came with it and replaced it with 2 x 120 mm rads one for each block (cpu/gpu). If you can possibly install the pump/res where the ssd cage is, then that might work. if it won't fit, then i suggest you replace the 360 with a 240 rad (front) to cool the cpu and one gpu. if you have an ivy, then you might need a 240 plus another 120 rad (rear).

one 360 rad is enough to cool the cpu and one gpu (imo) with enough room for oc'ing.

I've always heard 120mm of rad per block is sufficient,

If you can fit a 240 up front comfortably and you would like more raddage, you can always use the koolance radiator bracket to mount one more rad (240 or 360) at the back:

thanks for the replies guys, if it really doesnt work out i can probably trade my 360 and some cash to a friend for two 240s and mount one on top and one on the bottom.

one last quick question, does the xspc pump/res combo work any less efficiently when placed lower in the case than the normal top bay drive? if anyone knows i would definitely appreciate an answer thumb.gif .

i don't think the location of the combo would matter in such a small area. you'll be fine. keep the loop simple with short tubes. plan it thoroughly like what you are doing now.

so i found http://www.frozencpu.com/products/14356/ex-rad-320/Bitspower_120mm_Radiator_Mount_Holder_BP-120RADH-BK.html?tl=g30c95s1731&id=3yDAUtZ6&mv_pc=8453#blank on frozen cpu, would they be useful in raising the rad in the front or do you think i would be better off crafting a little stand for it to rest on myself, i have access to all the tools and materials required for that sort of project if the rad holder wouldnt work.

see if you can mount the rad without it first.
