A few of you have been going on about how this upsets the balance of the game, but how is that in any way relevant to a SP game? If it was MP, then sure, I agree that there is that huge potential to upset the delicate balance of a PVP MP game. Nobody is forcing you to buy these things. As far as I've read from a few hands-on articles with Dead Space 3 it's not like you can't pick up these items from playing, this is just for all those idiots who have no self-control with their money.

I don't think that these publisher's would be so stupid as to completely monetise a single player game to the point that you have to pay money to continue the story line. It's just little things like these micro transactions and DLC and other little ways they'll look for to monetise things. They'd have to be pretty stupid to do otherwise as I would imagine that they would see a pretty big drop in sales if they did.

so, if you have to pay extra money just to see the ending of the game you already bought/paid for, is it ok for them to say NOBODY IS FORCING YOU TO BUY AND SEE THE ENDING

The difference between Valve's model and other MC models is that the majority of items that are considered game-altering (weapons) can be found normally via drops. The rest are purely cosmetic.

Actually somewhere around mid 2011 they added purchase items that affected competitive balance. There was a 2 week argument about it all through the steam forums. Said item was more powerful and effective than the ones you could get in a normal drop. That's extremely important for a MP game.

Exactly right. Nobody is forcing you to fork out your money for either that ending nor that game in general. If you're giving money to a company that does something as extreme as that then you're an idiotic consumer and deserve to be exploited. I'm not saying that it's right that they're doing that, but you can't control what that company does, you can only choose what you do with your money.

This debacle in regards to Dead Space 3 is blown out of proportion IMO. If people want to be dumb consumers and pay more money for content that can be obtainable just by playing the game, let them stew in their stupidity. It's not like us (a minority) with all our complaining is going to stop what those consumers or the corporations do. We can only choose what we as individuals do with our own money and be wise consumers.

I really don't see much of any problem with the little micro transactions that EA have put into Dead Space 3. If it doesn't harm the overall experience of the game, why not let them exploit the idiots? It's just good business sense.

This is why I can only laugh at the "You're not forced to use it!" posts, it's EA...They'll at least be thinking about it.

Everybody keeps complaining about it (the corporation go ahead and do it anyway aside from the few of us speaking out against it) and saying we should do something about it, but nobody here is suggesting what "acts" should be made against it.... The simple fact of the matter is they'll do and implement whatever they want because a lot of consumers are too daft and will pretty much buy what's presented in front of them if they're into the game that much. The only real thing we can do is not touch the game because money is the only language these people understand. Even then most of the uninformed gamers are still probably going to move enough copies for them to be satisfied with the business model. We can only hope that they don't take it to the extreme.
