And the 7870 I put up is the TE (Tahiti) version based on the 7950 and 7970 PCB.

I only looked at the first review. It beat the 660 by one fps in two tests and tied it in another.
Basically they are pretty even. I guess at this point it just comes down to personal preference.

Funny....just found THIS thread.

right, i recommend the 660TI, which is like $30 more, beats the 7870 in everyone of those tests...

in this link that you linked... the 660 beat the 7870 in everyone of the tests... so good job.
http://www.techspot.com/review/572-nvidia-geforce-gtx-660/page3.html

the one that it did beat it was a site that takes whats on paper and puts them up against each other, that would theoretically say which would win... doesnt actually test them. on paper the 7870 may be better, but doesnt account for the superior drivers from Nvidia...

ive seen tests where a 660ti beats a 7950.

but hey man, its your computer, do your thing...

Lowest price 660 is $205 shipped, but the average price is $230 shipped.

Lowest price 660TI is $270 shipped, but the average is $290 shipped.

So there is a $60+ difference between the cards and the 660TI is above the $250 price point frickfrock set.

This is why I recommended the 660.

How are Nvidia's 32 Bit Vista drivers? I'm a stickler for stability and performance.

They are fantastic. Some of them (all version types) can be bad, but on general they are fantastic.

BTW, you do realize that Windows 32bit can only use 4GB of memory, so I would recommend upgrading to Windows 8 64bit for around $100.

I have Windows 8 64bit and it is fantastic. The "tiles" that caused so much rage can be simply bypassed, and the best part is you will be able to use 8GB of memory and lots more! The start menu can also be added back if you wish. It also handles SSD by default with trim and no defrag.

I have 660 non ti SLI rig... And it's the best decision i ever made! biggrin.gif... I have the MSI twin frozer III N660 OC and it's a really awesome card. (best 660 "non ti" version IMO)... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127702
209$ after rebate...

It performs exactly as a GTX 580.. with lower power consumption... I had a 580 so i know what i am saying tongue.gif . You can read more about people's performance in the Thread i created (660 non ti) http://www.overclock.net/t/1330897/gtx-660-non-ti-owners-club/0_40. The HD 7870 is a good good card... it has higher fps than a GTX 660 in some games, but to loose the support of physx, cuda, and 3d vision for 4-9 fps is not really worth it IMO...rolleyes.gif.

Here are the best options for you.
---if you don't care about physx or 3d vision.. get the 7870.
---if you will like to add another card down the road, and you don't want to break the bank, plus you still want physx in your games for some fps loss. Get the MSI N660..
---if you are not going to add any other card and you have a little more cash to spend... get the cheapest dual fan 7950 you can find....

Then the last option.. if you care about Nvidia physx... and you have a little more cash to spend and you don't want to add any other card down the road.. Get the 660 TI... biggrin.gif
