Anyway, the Corsair CX430 is going for $44.99 shipped at Newegg right now, and then you can get a $20 rebate card in the mail.  If you were able to order it tonight, then you could get it for $39.99 with their promo code EMCYTZT2819:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139026

From the reviews below, I come up with a maximum of about 530W being pulled out of the PSU if the 7950s and the 2500K are under full load at the same time - but I don't know how often that happens.

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/his_radeon_hd_7950_review,8.html

It shows here that one 7950 pulls 138W.  138 x 2 is 276.  However, they get 279W here, so I'll go with 279W.  The idle wattage was 165W for the single 7950, and it would be about 175W after adding the 2nd 7950W.  So with two 7950s under full load in their system, that would make their PSU at about 85% efficiency pulling about 450W from the wall outlet.  Your CPU under full load overclocked to 5 GHz is probably pulling about 175W at the most.  So just for a worst case scenario where the 7950s and the 2500K @ 5 GHz are under full load at the same time, that would make their PSU at 85% efficiency pulling about 625W from the wall outlet.

So if it's 85% efficient while pulling 625W from the wall outlet, then that means the system is pulling about 531W from the PSU.  This means that a quality-made continuous-rated 550W power supply would have no problem with this.  After all, how often would you have the 7950s and the 2500K under maximum load at the same time?  smile.gif

The 620W SeaSonic is what Antec used to make the HCG-620.  So, the above applies to you too.  wink.gif

ok so then final price it would be 25$ rite??
i will upgrade to 2nd gpu down the road in near future not now ,,, so i dont need psu for now,, cuz i was thinking about this one http://www.staples.com/Enermax-82-ATX12V-and-EPS12V-Power-Supply-750-W/product_IM1GE1318
and then seasonic i would use in old rig
or get another decent psu for old rig so i dont have to have later on for example 5 psu`s biggrin.gif

Yeah, it would be $25.  The only thing is that the rebate comes in the form of a pre-paid card.  Still, that's cool because then you don't have to go deposit a check.

If you add a 2nd 7950, then the 620W SeaSonic is still enough.

The 620W SeaSonic is more than enough for your system with two 7950's in it - even if you overclocked the 2500K.

So what do you think of the CX430?  You can use that for your old system and keep the 620W SeaSonic for your current and even add a 2nd 7950.

Oh, I forgot.  I've been too far out of the loop with CPU coolers to really know what can be recommended.  My instinct is to look for some equivalent to stock cooling, but I don't know what can be recommended from those kinds.

Absolutely, except I need someone to chime in about the power consumption when overclocking the 7950s.  That makes me less than 100% sure because I don't know yet.  It's not something I've really learned yet.

Oh hey, I remember a bunch of people here on OCN using the Freezer 7 Pro back in the days when the Core2 Duo was Intel's latest and greatest.  That would be a very good choice!

Hey, not bad for $10.  lol  As long as you don't overclock the E8400, this should be more than enough.

Yep, and when you get the box for the CX430, you cut the UPC bar code part out and mail it in with the form and a copy of your receipt.  At least, that's what I think has to be done - I think they have instructions on the form.

Also, they'll probably say to write the Rebate number on the front of the envelope.  When I did my first rebate, I dropped it off at the post office in person and the guy behind the counter gave me some advice.  You see, I put the rebate number directly beneath the address, and it so it was very close to the zip code.  He said that I should try to avoid doing that because some postal carriers might mistake that as an attempt by the sender to say "No wait, this is the correct zip code".  He said I can just put the Rebate number above the address, like including it as a part of the recipient's name or something.  Like, "Rebate Center, Suite A.  Rebate # 12345" with the address underneath that like normal.

Oh, good choice.  :)  Just remember to apply the thermal paste correctly on the 212+:
