Blizzard's Chief Creative Officer, Rob Pardo, has posted a statement saying that Diablo 3 critics should blame him instead of former Game Director Jay Wilson, as he was the executive producer of the dungeon crawling RPG and helped shape its major attributes...

Cant get to source for some reason. But reading from the quote this is a rare thing to see in such situations. Nice to see someone taking ownership of it rather than sitting back letting someone else take the brunt. With that said though I can't imagine it'll have much of an impact.

I blame them all collectively.
I think it's absurd to say the game's director shouldn't have any blame. Otherwise... what was he even doing? lol

I care much less about who is to blame than I do about how they plan to fix D3 in the expansion.

This is just a smoke screen. They want you to buy the next game Jay Wilson works on. Since Jay is stepping down from diablo and now working on another blizzard title. This new title they don't want you to know it sucks before they get your money.

Didn't take em no time to get that RMAH up and running though did it? Maybe if they take game creation as seriously as gouging their customers then they'd of had a respectable product.

RMAH and the way the game plays and feels have no association with each other. If you believe they do then you clearly don't know how they go about developing games.

Good lord people give it a rest! Ultimately this guy is directly over Jay Wilson, so yes he does deserve some blame and I find it rather honorable that he would step up and do so. I love how everyone just bashes Blizzard for being such a disaster at game development. Diablo 3 is the only game that they have released that was a "disaster" at launch. To be completely honest the game was never the total disaster that anyone says it is/was. Yes it had a number of faults, but it seems that all of you have forgotten just how much Blizzard pays attention to the forums and impliments feedback into their games to improve them. Before any of you mention WoW, yes it does not offer the "hardcore" content it did during BC or Vanila. That was never the sole purpose! They want it to be accesible to the masses, the more people they play the more likely they are to gain new customers and make more money. Cataclysm was the only expansion that was remotely close to a disaster and MoP is a vast improvement over the last two expansions. What other game has been a total disaster for them to have lost all respect and customer loyalty? Starcraft was amazing and left behind a legacy. Starcraft 2 has built upon that and soon we will have HotS which is looking incredibly promising. Get a grip people and calm down. They are going to cater to the masses as they will please the most people and make the most money, not to a few spoiled brats that demand to get what they want.

I think the whole team had good intentions, but they are just extremely out of touch with gamers. Obviously they thought we wanted dumbed-down World of Warcraft with the D3 logo stamped on top, no ladders, and a horrible loot system based completely off RNG. At least Path of Exile goes open beta tomorrow so we can get the spiritual successor to D2.
