550ti to 7870? - Page 2

Out of interest, how future proof would the 7870 be?

I would just go with the store you trust more/which card matches your system. Maybe you can find some reviews comparing the 2 cards? Either way, the difference between the cards is going to be miniscule.

Try and get one of the HD 7870 Tahiti LE cards. Tahiti LE has 1536 stream processors vs 1280 on the HD 7870 (pitcairn). Tahiti LE has 256 bit memory at 6 ghz(192 Gb/s) while Pitcairn has 256 bit memory at 5 Ghz (160 Gb/s). with 20% more stream processors and 20% more bandwidth the tahiti le is 8 - 10% faster than pitcairn. overclocks well and at 1.2 ghz gets close to HD 7970(925 mhz) performance.

the sapphire has a much better cooler and is well worth the extra money. quiet and capable of cooling efficiently at 1.2 ghz overclocks.

powercolor, vtx3d and club3d cards are manufactured by TUL corporation. powercolor and vtx3d are owned by TUL. the cooler on this card has higher temps than sapphire card and gets loud.

I would better go with used high-end card, than new low-end.

7870 is not exactly low end, with the option of relatively cheap crossfire in the near future with falling prices, especially at 1080 p

Avoid the regular Sapphire HD7870 because they suffer from a lot of hardware issues.

I think i might go for the VTX3D black edition

http://www.dabs.com/products/best-value-vtx3d-amd-radeon-7870-hd-2gb-pci-express-3-0-hdmi-black-8G9Q.html

as it had good reviews and ill shop around a bit to see if i can get any lower prices. Thanks for your help. How would this card fare on a 400w psu with an fx 4100?
