Is my Corsair H60 time to retire? 2500k 4.3GHz 1.3v 75C

Is it time to retire the unit? it is really underperforming compared to online tests.

Tried push and pull Gentle Typhoons.
Remounted many times. Reapplied TIM (arctic silver 5)

It's two years old (oktober 2011)

I am considering Phanteks aircooling which is better than a H60. I am waiting for haswell still.

How bad is it underperforming?
Is is set up to pull air into the case?
What are the temps?
Need more info.

have you cleaned it? I'd lapp the cooler surface! It'd get ya a good 5C drop. The heatplate is so concave on most astek/Corsair coolers...

Well I would say I am 5-10C above average. 4.3GHz with 1.31v gives me 79C using Linx or IBT which is a lot for a small overclock. I remember I had first in the low 60s I believe.

I use the H60 to pull air out actually as exhaust. not intake. I have a dusty room.I could however set it as intake just behint the hard drive bay.

I clean the radiator regularly. I would say the TIM is around 6 months old maybe. I am considering Phanteks of €80 in value. Which runs 10-15C cooler than H60. Looks like a great air cooler. I was actually considering the H100i but I don't think it will be compatible with haswell.

Where did you hear that it will not be compatible with LGA 1150? It should be compatible with all 1155/1156 coolers according to the leaked documents.

I was looking for the documents but I can't find them. Can you be so kind to link me to them ?

Hmm interesting. I bought my H60 around the same time as you did and I too am having a few minor issues with it. I found it fairly loud so I traded the corsair fan with Akasa Apache fans. I also have it as exhuast as well. My temps are also somewhat high, but the could possibly be due to the high overclock I have which is around 1.35v at 4.7 ghz. Currently when I run IBT I can pass, but it will hit 83c on the hottest core which isn't too good. I've already tried reseating it and adding some new TIM (Cooler Master Extreme Fusion X1). I'm most likely going to get the new X40 from NZXT once Haswell drops.

1150/1155/1156 will all use the same mounting holes.

Also even if it wasen't compatible, they would make a bracket or something and give it for free if you asked. They sent me a new bracket kit for the socket 2011 for my H70 when i replaced my mb/cpu no charge.

I'd say if you're hitting such temps with IBT (assuming with AVX ) I'd say you have nothing to worry about. Under regular use, you'll most likely never stress your system as much as IBT does so you really have nothing to worry about. If you were hitting 80C+ in games (maybe even 75C + ) then I'd say be concerned.

I haven't stress-tested my system in over a year but I think my temps were around that level with my 4.5Ghz OC if not more. Again, only dump the H60 if you are seeing such temps in normal user loads like games, editing, etc.

Though if that were to be happening, it may end up being an airflow issue or something else.
