Should I disable cores to get more OCing?

Thread Starter
Just as the title says. Pretty much the only thing I do is gaming and the only game I have that takes as advantage of 8 threads is BF3. I play a lot of total war and want to push this CPU as far as it can go. So which cores should I disable (if any).

Just leave them on.

Far Cry 3 was only using about 40% of my CPU so I turned off half of my cores, and OC'ed the rest around 10% higher.

Guess what? My FPS dropped by 40% even though Far Cry 3 only used no more than 90% of my CPU (on 3 cores).

Edit: It's especially not-necessary in your case since your GPU is gonna be the limiting factor for sure.

I'll keep it short and sweet: Don't bother thumb.gif
