If I could +Rep you I would. I think this is the real reason, people expect so much of them they couldn't have kept it up forever. They created new markets that are now FULL or very good competitors.

Their stocks were hyper inflated and the bubble was bound to burst sometime...

The primary thing that holds people with Apple is the App Store investment. People don't want to lose the $10s or even $100s of apps they've bought over years. The marketing helps too, but it just feels like the company is on glide rather than powered flight either now or here pretty soon. As the other OSs actually innovate, Apple will inevitably have to face the consequences. It may take a decade, but it will come.

Maybe, maybe not.

I had an iPhone for two and a half years. I recently ditched it for a Galaxy S3. I lost maybe $50 in apps, but that didn't stop me from switching. I do wish that the app makers would honor your investment on one platform and allow you to download for free (or even at a reduced price) a similar app from them on a different platform, but I don't really see that is a big deal.

I never bothered with movies or music on my Apple account, but I imagine there is a way that you can keep them, regardless if you no longer use them on an iPhone/iPad. But I'm not sure.

I'm happy to have made the switch, and the $50 lost in Apple Apps wasn't even an issue for me.

Hyperbole much? You would have to be a grade A moron to think that the interface on the left is functionally different than that on the right. Using a phone shouldn't require a CS degree."

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? How stupid do you have to be to think that, for all intents and purposes, these aren't identical? There is no practical difference.

Your opinion, honestly, makes me legitimately frustrated. That's how ridiculous I think it is. You slide your way through pages of app icons and click on what you want on both devices. No difference.

+1 to that guy being completely ignorant about what he's talking about. I'm running CM10.1 nightly. It's very fast, and it's as stable as a rock. Every single time I let friends with iPhones use my phone, you can tell they think it's really cool and far better then their phone. Android allows far more functionality and customization than an iPhone. It's almost laughable.

I guess I need to go back up to my post about the main thing holding iPhone users back is their App Store investment and add ignorant people like this who think the iPhone is faster, more stable, and that Android is all about the bling. hairysmiley.png

It really depends on how one defines "innovation." Apple innovates on the interface and interaction front while companies like Samsung innovate on the technological front. Given that many OCN members view innovation as who can push the hardware envelope the farthest, Apple can definitely look stalled as their devices are generally "underpowered" in comparison to other companies given their price range. They do not consider that for the vast majority of consumers, hardware specs are largely irrelevant and it all comes down to user experience for them. Does the lack of overclocking and CPU horsepower make an Apple computer less snappy than a Windows computer? In my personal experience, not at all. My original 17" MacBook Pro is still being used to this day and it is running a Core Duo processor. I prefer my iPhone 5 over any Samsung phone I have tried holding at the store because it is not as wide. When the iPhone was first released, Apple created an OS around the touchscreen as opposed to many other companies who simply tried to make their existing OS compatible with touchscreens. Before Apple started pushing ultra high resolutions, we were generally stuck with crappy screens. Things like that I consider innovation, even if Apple is not pushing the hardware limits of a device. I honestly could care less if my phone has 2 cores or 8 cores as long as it runs smoothly and does what I need for it. It is all about perspective.

The Same kind of CFAs that told me shorting apple was the worst financial decision I could possibly make in August? The same kind of CFAs that said, and this is what really gets me, that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac MBS (mortgage backed securities) were weighted 0 points of risk and that was actually feasible?

I'm sorry.. being a CFA or CPA doesn't make you any financially more informed or literate than anyone else.

The guy is right. Wall Street is smokes and mirrors. If you play the game well you win. Stock price is based more on speculation than actual health of a company.

Exactly. My economics professor told us that stock prices are nothing more than the expectation of the future price of the stock.
