you have got a card with the boost BIOS. the stock voltage on the boost bios is 1.25v. mostly you can run at 1100 - 1150 mhz at stock voltage. max out power control to+20% to avoid clock throttling or fluctuations. also this BIOS seems to have locked voltage. so see if you are able to manually tweak voltage using msi afterburner or sapphire trixx.

Actually i just returned mine, it was my first amd card and im sorry to say i hated it. Really sorry. I loved that card untill i installed it. Amd card would be BEASTMODE if they fixed the latency issues. some people say they cant tell but those wierd pauses inbetween those buttery smooth frames, thats amd. frown.gif ..... I replaced it with a 660ti oc though and it far out performs it. Maby not on the benchmarks no, but it real gameplay smoothness of the framerate, most def, which makes all the difference. I still have faith in you AMD!!! if you cant see it then im happy for you.

Hi Guys,
I just got my Gigabyte 7950 today in E-Europe and I can confirm: all software shows it as 1000 MHz on core. So it seems we got a +100 Mhz present from Gigabyte smile.gif .

Yup. I found it funny everywhere is saying 800MHz, but mine is also clocked at 1000MHz

You didn't get any +100MHz present from Gigabyte. Those cards just come shipped with the new bios that has a higher voltage. There's nothing else to it.

Hi,
New to this board but hoping someone can help.
Just got a new Gigabyte 7950 Windforce a couple of days ago and it refuses to even boot in my main PC (Intel i7-2700K, MSI P67A-GD65).
Wouldn't even get into BIOS. Just black screen.
Updated BIOS on motherboard. Still nothing.

However today I have tried the card in an older PC (Intel Q6600, ASUS Maximus Formula) and it works just fine.
So then I thought it might have been a power supply issue so I swapped the power supply from old PC into my new PC, but it still didn't work.

I then came across this thread which was talking about a new BIOS so I thought would check mine.
I can confirm that my BIOS is FX0 and it has a base clock of 1000MHz.
However my PCB has 8-pin and a 6-pin power?

My GPU-Z screen is identical to that shown in ED2099's first message in this thread.

Can anyone suggest why this board won't even boot in my newest PC?
Is there a different BIOS I could try?
Help!!

you could try updating your motherboard BIOS to the latest one available.

Problem fixed.
I downloaded the latest BETA BIOS for the P67A-GD65 motherboard (v4.39) and it now works fine.

However I would like to know why my PCB has 8-pin and a 6-pin power? Does that mean its a 7970 PCB?

just to let everyone know, the 1000mhz is just the new bios, it has locked voltage and you cannot change it with any program, the only way around it is flashing to an older gigabyte bios. Gigabyte supply software and bios' here on their site http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4121#dl just go to this page first to find out which bios you need to flash it to, mine was the F2
