My Gigabyte 7950 Windforce came stock at 1000 MHz. Is this normal? - Page 3

Had mine delivered today, 1000 MHz clock speed and same BIOS version as OP. 2x6 pin connectors, so flashing a 7970 BIOS will not work? If it works does anyone know if it will increase the card's performance?

OP, could you pull the BIOS off your card and post it up for everyone?

Thanks!

FWIW, I had issues with the FZ0 bios but my second card came with FZ1 which seems to work much better, so i flashed it to both. Only using CCC, and bumping the allowed voltage to 20%, both cards are happy up to 1100/1500.

I generally run 1050/1250 to keep my room cool.

I have the same card, i tried to upload using GPUZ but the rom already exists on techpowerup database (filename: 131114.rom), although i can't seem to find it on their site by browsing the database i found it by manually typing the bios filename.

I don't know why it's not listed properly wth.gif

Aren't all of these cards with 1000mhz/1.25vddc just cards that were shipped with the F3 BIOS? I'm pretty sure the F3 BIOS was pulled because the components were not sufficient for all the voltage. I'm on F2 and tested overclocking at 1.25 volts and the card ran at 74 degrees core and 80 degrees VRAM temps, which are both a bit high for me. For gaming, I settled on 1.15 vddc with 1185/1450 clocks at 64 degree core temp and 70 degree VRAM temps. Much cooler.

I wish they would come out with a happy medium BIOS instead of the 2 extreme voltages but I don't see it happening. Going to have to stick to Trixx/AB for the time being.

I just bought a 7950 windforce from Fry's and mine has the 6+8 power pins. Do I have a 7970 PCB?

you would be the first that I know of.

Just got my 2 GA 7950 Windforce card. Both were at 1 Ghz core stock.

Just got mine today... Also its max clock at 1000mhz by itself (guess is the boost thing)... It does have 8 and 6 pins power connectors. plus on the model number close to the pci-e shows is ver 2.0

edit: also came with the latest bios. wink.gif

just curious, what voltage is the 1000mhz clocked unit running at? my guess is that the voltage is definitely upped a bit.
