[Scratch] Hardwood floor Techstation

I had always told Syrillian that I was going to start working on stuff as soon as I had any tools at all to work with. I install hardwood floors for a living and finally have tools so I have the materials and the means. So time for my first go at it. I recently installed an unfinished floor at work and grabbed the longest scrap pieces that did not meet the standards in whatever way. So the plan is to put it all together, and then stain it. I did not draw anything up or really "plan" it out really. Anyways, on to the pictures and stuff. tongue.gif

I chose unfinished white oak for the mobo shelf, the HDD and DVD drive shelf has not been decided on yet.

My mobo tray pieces

This is what I am working with. Just cut off the tongue and groove ends, and they are ready!

15 inches by 16 inches. Slightly large and slightly perfect.

Put it all together and turn it over to add 3 cross pieces to hold the boards together.

The tray at the end of day one.

Is there any "tried and true" easier way to have my HDDs and DVD drives as part of it without having another full shelf like I already have? The 15 by 15 shelf pictured already weighs a good bit and if there was another shelf, the whole "tower" would be 15 or so inches tall. Soooo any thoughts? smile.gif

Hm. Not a bad idea. I had not considered the back. That may work. I am about to put a little more work into it after I get this palm sander back together ha.

I am trying to overcome the mounting of the mobo now. I have no mobo tray, but I could make one as I want it to be removable from the techstation. I have a ton of old cases of all sizes, but not sure I have the right tool to cut them apart for the tray. I have a dremel, but I dont think the stone disks will be tough enough to get it all the way cut up. frown.gif

This project is still ongoing, I just need to find a mobo tray to use instead of just putting the mobo directly on the wood. wth.gif
