The sabertooth is a little over priced for what it is, unfortunately. -

Go gigabyte's UD5

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/gigabyte-ga-990fxa-ud5-amd-990fx-s-am3plus-ddr3-sata-iii-6gb-s-raid-sata-pcie-20-(x16)-atx

Which is a better board.

Unless you want the e-peen from ASUS

You had 3 Sandy Bridge chips fail and then this power surge thing? Buy a surge protector or UPS (uninterruptible power supply)! That is the best bet. Forget a new video card, and protect what you have.

i prefer asus but i do like gigabyte mobo also but the asus motherboard has more support and better capacitor material for longer drive. asus is more expensive for the amount because they use higher grade capacitors

Why would you even consider getting Asus ROG board or any other stupidly expensive high end board for that matter, as you wont actually utilize even half of the features? Just because you have all that money to spend doesn't necessarily mean you should waste it into something you don't need.

3570k is your best bet at the moment. Last gen chip offers nothing to justify getting one over ivy and i wouldn't personally wait for haswell, but maybe thats just me. For the record, its bad luck if you get ivy that cant oc over 4.2 ghz and many can achieve that on near stock volts. Considering going AMD solely based on your narrow view of Ivy Bridges temperature issues is ridiculous. Not that AMD's alternative was bad for gaming.

Get Gigabyte UD3H or something at the same pricepoint and a 3570k and you'll game with that setup for 2-3 years at least. For graphics get 7950 or if you must go nvidia go GTX 670.

1600Mhz CL9 ram seems to be the sweet spot right now, and i suggest you pick 2x4Gb kit.
