Calling all Corsair AX860 Owners

Could you put your ear next to your PSU and tell me if you can hear a high pitched humming noise coming from it? I'm on my second one and both of them have this issue.
It is either the bearings in the fan or coil wine. It is normal.

I bought one AX860 non "i" version. Made a high frequency tone on idle, not coil whine. On load it fainted a bit. Returned it asap and I am happy again.

Can you hear the noise when your eye is "not" next to the Unit?

You know the sound when cable TV channel is done for the night and then just has those colour bars on the screen and that high pitch tone sound. That sound. Very annoying and is audible through out the room. I bought an AX1200 back in the day that did something like that too.

I'm happy with my AX650 though, very quiet.

I have been considering downgrading my AX1200 to one of the newer AX lower wattage units, but I read about this in the newegg reviews and was curious also.

This is why i went with ax850. I couldn't stand the high pitched noise and i bought 2 ax860. both made high pitched noise even when i turned it off and unplug the cord. returned both and got myself an ax850. no more high pitched noise. smile.gif

If it bothers you, get a different model. Other than that, there is nothing wrong with your actual Unit wink.gif

I have the solution:  stop putting your ear next to it.

It's a computer!
