No Higher Then 230MHz? help!

Thread Starter
AMD 754 3000+ on a Biostar T-force mother board. So far ive been able to get if up to 2.85Ghz 1425fsb 100% reliable but not without killing the speed of the ram. Yes i'm using somewhat crappy ram but i dont understand why I can't break the 230Mhz threshold (increments of 5) without lowering the speed from 200 down to 100 (2:1 divider). Ive tried 166 & 133 and spent about 10 hours so far with different timings but nothing seams to allow me to do it. with everything running stock the ram it self is able to transfer 1.662GB/s after overclocking and lowering divider am barley breaking the 1 gig threshold. Could this be something more then just the ram im using? Ive tried 3 different brands of sticks now though none of them made for OCing they all fail at the same freq. also ive tried increasing voltage and no difference.
thanks,
Bryan

looks like you need to adjust the speed and timings of your RAM. fill out your specs so i know what i'm working with here

Is your PCI Bus locked? If it isnt, your usually capped at around 230MHz FSB until its locked. If the PCI bus goes above 33MHz, you in trouble!

The T-Force is bound to be locked in terms of PCI/AGP frequencies, but you guys are thinking along the right lines. Hks85, are you running a SATA drive by chance?

Could just be the ram too. If you have the part number readily available, post it and we'll figure out what's up

Just hi-jack my top quality tips then!

Yeah, locking the AGP bus kinda goes hand-in-hand with locking your PCI bus. I can't lock my PCI bus and its a serious drawback. DFI LanParty NF4-Ultra for xmas hopefully!

<3 on my old msi neo2 you had to lock the AGP bus in order to lock down the board and sata ports 3 and 4. sometimes also your sata 1 and 2 ports don't lock, so you might be better off using your sata 3&4 ports.

You should list the options you do have to choose from...?

what overclocking options do you have...

Changing the LDT multi can help...should be on 2 for over 230fsb...

How high does the cpu, ram, chipset and LDT voltages go...?

What are your ram timings...is the ram set to 1T or 2T...may need 2T to get higher...

The sata port problem is common on NF3... so try 3-4 if you use sata...

If you have a AGP lock use 67-68....66 doesnt seen to lock right above 235-240..? alot use 68...

list the full specs of you ram...timings and voltage stock and what you've tried...

on his HT he can actually go all the way up to 260 at 3x (put his HT around 760)....
