Well at least you found a solution for now. May not be ideal, but it works. I'd be curious as to what Fractal would have to say on this. It would seem to me that the fan control switch it self is just a few resistors or a variable resistor and a capacitor or two. When you move the switch to a different voltage it doesn't change the PSU voltage, but actually changes the resistor that is used in order to change the voltage that goes to the fans.

some what of a picture: so when you switch the switch, it literally cuts the curcuit to the other voltages and runs the power to the fans through that voltage drop resistor. At least this how I think they do it tongue.gif not sure why that would effect anything before the controller wth.gif even the delay doesn't really make sense.

my drawing isn't working correctly...hmmm...

It seems that the cable on the PSU might be the issue. You have molex+Sata together on one line, it could be bad wiring.
You said it does the same thing on other PSU, which I do not get.

You run it separate all is fine, I tried to duplicate your problem with mine and 2 others, even using a crappy PSU and nothing happens.
Had molex cable all filled nothing.

See if you can exchange the case where you bought it. if not possible contact Fractal to have a replacement fan controller sent to you.

One other problem I've noticed with this case is the stock fans. They sound terrible, the bearings vibrate at all speeds. Looking at the fan from an angle the blades are wobbling alot.

I've owned an r4 which is meant to have the same fans but I don't recall them ever sounding like this (even when taken out of the case)

Anyone else got wobbling fans? biggrin.gif

Edit - Oh and the 5.25" covers don't sit flush, they bulge outwards.

My R4 fans are nice and quiet.

Yeah the r4 ones are decent, but the 3 that came with my arc midi r2 sound really bad... even though they are all meant to be silent series r2 140mm.

The rest of your pc must be pretty loud then smile.gif

I planned to replace them with be quiet silent wings 2 fans anyway so its not really a big deal. Just thought its worth mentioning that all 3 definitely sound worse than the 2 that came with my fractal r4. I'm a sound freak so definitely would have noticed had the r4 ones sounded like this.
