Need raid card advice

I am looking raid card that supports at least 6 hhds in raid 6 and runs in Linux nas4free?

If you are going to use NAS4Free I assume you are also going to use ZFS as a filesystem. In that case you don't want a raid card in your system as this may conflict with the protection ZFS offers. You want to use the RAID-Z or RIAD-Z2 option provided by the OS. If you don't have enough SATA ports on you motherboard you can use a HBA, for example the IBM M1015 flashed to IT mode which provides 8x sata3 ports.

Yup, standard RAID isn't that good anymore.... not for your needs probably.

So why do you need a RAID6 controller?
If you don't need 2TB+ support, a used PERC 5/i for $40 used. If you need RAID6, a PERC 6/i can be bought for $100 but again... no 2TB+ support. Both support up to 8 SATA drives.

It's a file server though.... you will be limited by network latency and bandwidth anyways.

Backblaze uses 4-port SYBA SY-PEX40008 cards with 3TB+ HDDs so they should be good:
