here comes the hypes ( this is 10x powerful, that is 20x powerful, ) I remember before PS3 was announced we saw similar hypes that said it will surpass PC, they kept saying it will be able to do this and that.. and open up unlimited potentials...it did fulfill some hypes but missed like 80% of the hypes lol ..so when the day comes and I actually see it with my own eyes I will decide to believe or not smile.gif

Think how a 8Mhz increase used to be huge in the 286 days, but these days is nothing.

I don't quite know what you are trying to say with that but progress most certainly has slowed down. We just don't see as big leaps in raw performance as we used to. More and more of the rendering power is used up for subtle effects like ambient occlusion, soft shadows or subsurface scattering. All that are quite resource hungry.

I think Pc's are held back by consoles, and developers are really lazy to make the games from the ground up for us! Of course there are exceptions, but those are very few, and all devs do is give us "PC gamers" nasty ports!

It's a shame really, because we have this crazy amount of power on our Pc's to display so many visual effects, but those effects are not optimized to the full potential. All we do is upgrade our Gpu's constantly just because devs were lazy to optimize the games!

They aren't really lazy. It's far harder to program for PS3s and 360s than PC. They are focusing on consoles because that's where most of the money is. They are corporations, not charities so they will do what gives them the most money.

I understand that, but how are they not lazy when they make a game for consoles and then port it to PC without FOV, capped 30 FPS, no widescreen options etc,etc and then they expect to be making $$$?

Release a game llke "Half Life series, Diablo series, StarCraft series, World Of Warcraft, Guild Wars" craft it towards pc audience and you will make tons of $$$! Hell even original Crysis sold over 3 million copies on pc, but then Crytek thought if they release it for consoles they will make more $ than COD series, were they wrong...Crysis 2 sold 1.19m as of 16th Feb 2013 , and that's Xbox 360, PS3 and PC global!

What im trying to say it "don't bite the hand that feeds you" and expect profit, it's not gonna happen!

For every port released with those (Especially no wide-screen options...What is this? 2005?) there's probably 4 that have as many FPS as you want, an FOV slider. (As for Widescreen I honestly can't think of many games that have come out since 2005 that don't support it in some form)

No doubt the current console generation is holding back PC gaming, but to call game devs lazy because of it is just silly. PC game sales trail far behind the consoles. You can't seriously suggest that game devs focus on the platform that will sell maybe 500k copies over the platform(s) that will sell several million.

C'mon now, there's only so much you can gain, a stripped down, downclocked 7870 coupled with jaguar cores wont be killing any high end PCs any time soon. The PS3 didn't and it had a higher end spec when it came out.
