Really clean look...You could add some sort of routing to keep them fixed to the plate, don't you think?

This is something that I was thinking too, but there won't be enough space between the plate and the GPU. The space between the front wall and the GPU is only like 6cm, so I cannot really do much in the way of implementing clips or clamps so most of the cable is hidden anyway... I might have to drill and saw a channel in the dividing plate so the cables do not touch the GPU.

We will see how it goes over the next few days until I come up with an idea. thumb.gif

Ideas:
1 - drill a small hole on both sides of each cable and use small tie wraps to hold down each cable. You could have all the tie wraps in a row (maybe at the midpoint of the corner) or staggered. Or use thin wire or twist ties. Might need more than one anchoring point for each cable.
2 - drill a curved line of holes in the path you want each cable to follow and then have each cable dive up and down through the plate (like stitches) . The holes could be aligned for each cable or staggered in a pattern or randomly. The cables might be too short for this now and the soldered sections might not be flexible enough.

Channels would be cool too.

Qrash, your ideas are great! I am considering a modified version of your first suggestion. I have thought about cutting 2 channels, where all 4 cables would run into the 5.25 bay and then back out to the main area. Each slot hole/channel would be around with one located where it can be seen, and the other located just after the connectors on the motherboard. Then I have had the idea of setting an LED strip near the slot that the light shines through, and lighting up the channels. The effect that I want is something like this.

Once again thanks for the ideas mate, I think I would have to put your name down on this project, as this is now a collaborative project. wink.gif

You're too kind. I just wish I had your ability. It's very inspiring to many others.

Update

Hey everybody!

I have some updates on my dividing plate that I have been working on the last week or so. So I thought I would share with you my progress smile.gif Everything started with an idea...

So I did a test of my own to see if the concept worked. I was happy with the concept's results!

Plotting holes for cable routing, and design for the line concept.

Proof of concept with the cable routing. I have decided this was the best solution for 2 reasons.
1. I could not be bothered soldering the cables so that they all go through the holes.
2. Cables no longer cross on top of each other, so this means that the result I wanted had been achieved.

Line plotting, with drilling the holes to start with. A little adjustment to design so that the lines run straight and have same distance from each other.

Rough progress has been made.

After some filing of the rough corners and edges

Almost finished product. Now I am sanding to get rid of blemishes, and will soon paint black.

I want to mirror this design on a panel which will sit on the floor of the case, and do away with the murdermod style light panel. The panel would have cost more money to get materials and apply them, and the concept had already been done before.

Thanks for reading, and if anyone has ideas, or tips, please let me know wink.gif
