If it's truly Q2, then I might as well wait....

but then again I don't know much about both phones, will the SGIV be a clear winner over the NoteII?

Note2 and do not look back. I really do not see anything better than possibly the Note3 when it arrives. Amazing battery life, nice big screen, s-pen, tons of support, nfc.

I'm ok with the NOTEII, as it it seems to be the best phone on the market (for my needs/wants)... I am just curious how the Note II will pan out vs the upcoming Galaxy IV (Four)... Which would I rather have, and why?

well the siv would of course be newer and should be more powerful, but the biggest difference will probably be screen size.

i prefer a higher resolution on a smaller screen size, but i don't mind the extra real estate.. so I suppose I need to find out which has the most pixels per inch out of the two. It sucks comparing two phones especially when one isn't out on the market yet.

also I would recommend going into a shop to do the pocket check and the on handed use check with the note.

What do you mean by "higher resolution?" 720p is perfect for anything under 5 inches. Anything higher is hardly noticeable, these <5" phones will have a very dense ppi, such as the GS3 with 306 ppi.

In the future, however, 1080p will be the norm for screen resolution.

I tried out the phones in the store, and I don't care too much about how it fits in my pocket (at least, not yet).

I figured on a 5" screen a 1080p resolution would be preferred over a 720p resolution (but this is just off a hunch/guess that I would prefer a higher resolution like I normally do on my CRT monitors).

I mean, what do you suggest? I mentioned I upgrade every three to four years, is it worth waiting until Q2 to see what the Samsung Galaxy Four has to offer over the current Samsung Note II?

I'd certainly wait for the next gen (although going without a cell phone sucks, especially when you've got as many lady friends as yourself.)

Most next gen phones will have 1080p screens. If you want to wait, I'd say the S4 would probably be another flagship phone.

As of the current best phones, the Note 2 is a larger, quad core S3. It also has a 720p screen (which, personally, think is sufficient.) If you don't mind a giant phone, I'd say that's the best choice as of right now. Otherwise go with the S3 if you want something a little smaller(don't let the dual core processor sway your opinion, it's just about silk smooth anyways - it runs great on CM10.1 too.)

I'd say wait for the S4 when it comes out. I don't know exactly how AT&T contracts work, but I'd also consider upgrading every 2 years instead if you can so you can try to stay updated with the latest phones. The S4 will undoubtedly perform well for two years.

I don't have that many lady friends, but I am definitely aiming for more (as soon as I make more money)

The main issue is, will I get that filler iPhone 3GS to use... if not I will settle for a crappy phone from 2002.

So your advice is on point (just like everyone else who chimed in): Either I wait or get a good phone now (S3 vs Note II vs waiting for a 1080p phone).

To be honest, I'm pretty sure I'll upgrade at least every three years. I was going to use my iPhone 3G for another year, but it was starting to piss me off (it would take forever to load programs compared to an iphone 4gs or 5...and sometimes that's crucial when I'm doing something dangerous like changing a song on a red light).
