@op.Let the heaven loop like 10 times to check the stability.Monitor your voltage with hwmonitor during the benchmark. But i suggest its rma time.Your card shouldnt be unstable at stock settings.

Thanks, I'll try monitoring my voltage with HWMonitor too. My GPU-Z log is attached but I am not sure if anything is wrong with it. Can you have a look at it too and tell me if everything seems normal?

I would just Return the card and get a 7950.

This one is only a little bit more expensive than the Joker Card.

309$ After MIR

VDDC goes up to 1.227 just before it crashes otherwise it hovers around 1.143-1.213 - or that is what I can make from the GPU-Z Sensor log at least. Can you please have a look and tell me if everything seems normal here? Attached is my GPU-Z Sensor Log. The crash is right at the very end after which the log stops abruptly even though the sound keeps playing normally. The music from Heaven Benchmark finished and started playing again even though my PC had frozen and the screen went BLACK.

As for the HD 7950, I'm not sure if it's even available in stock as I live in Pakistan and have very few choices to choose from if I decide to buy a GPU. And even if it's available I'm sure it's a lot more! I got my Club3D 7870 (Tahiti LE) for around $260-270. And a 7950 here would easily cost around $350-400... My best bet is returning the 7870 and getting hold of another one which should hopefully work perfectly.

Time to return it I guess because at stock clocks the freezing seems to have returned.

i'm still getting a Tahiti LE but from Sapphire biggrin.gif

If you are going to get a Tahiti LE from Sapphire then YOU ARE ASKING FOR TROUBLE. I don't know if you are aware of the recent batches of HD7850/7870 from Sapphire but let me just tell you that Sapphire has dropped the ball lately. A quick Google search will reveal that and you can even go check the official Sapphire forums and you will see a lot of people complaining. I strongly recommend you stay away from Sapphire and I know this because I RMA'd two HD7870 from them.

i've got a Sapphire 7770 and have had no problems with it, as for the 7870 issue's those were manufacture wide not just Sapphire. if i have to RMA i'll RMA i got no problems with it, i got my 7770 that i can use to do back up if needed. Sapphire has been good to me for a long while...

p.s. these aren't 7870 actual cores they're 7900 cores and i found nothing in regards to a lot of problems with the 7870 XT only complaints about not wanting boost...

I looked over google and never saw any problem with the 7870 Le Joker card. headscratch.gif

I notice in your logs that your core clock is always fluctuating between 925Mhz and 975Mhz.

I also notice that your rig is always crashing at 73'C - 74'C

Can you still run some tests and post the log?

That fluctuation between 925 and 975 is due to the fact that this is a Boost card. The picture on the box suggests it runs at 925 Mhz under load and 975 Mhz under severe load. Next to 925 it says 'GPU' and next to 975 it says 'GPU Boost'. I still don't get the point of this. 50 Mhz Boost would hardly make a difference of 3-4 FPS but creates more problems than it solves...

I sure can. Will post the GPU-Z log again on my next crash. I think I have also seen freezes at 76'C - 78'C. Will report back with more logs from the freezing.

This topic shows others with the 7870 jokerCard that seem to have the same/similar issues. Now I am not sure if all the cards manufactured in this series are plagued by this issue...

Did you increase the power limit to +20%?This will make your card to run at 975 all the times. Also try to manual adjust your fan speed maybe an overheat of your vram can cause this.

I wouldn't wanna tinker with either of those because the GPU is still in warranty (it's only 2 days old) and would like to think that no such issues should exist out of the box. Like I mentioned in my previous posts, under-clocking the card seemed to have fixed the issue (it ran stable on Heaven Benchmark for over 30 minutes which it usually doesn't) and after trying it at stock clocks the freezing problem returned, so I'd rather just return the card to the vendor I bought it from.

My PC froze again, in just under 10 minutes of running Heaven Benchmark.

Attached is the GPU-Z Sensor log for this run of Heaven Benchmark till it freezes. The freeze is right at the very end of the log. (Last 2-3 seconds I guess?)

So that's it then? Back to the store I bought it from?

Yes, take it back and get a new one. Hopefully the other one you get won't have such issues. My first 7870 that I had never froze during benchmarks but only in games so go figure.

You could alt-TAB out. He has a complete hang/freeze with sound loop . The sound loop is caused by the last 2ms of sound before the hang, thats why sometime there is no sound loop because the last 2ms had no sound fx or music. He can only get out of this hang with a hard reset/reboot.

Does your hang looks like this 1ceMaster: Check the 0:40 mark.

If you care to read what ive written in that thread you will notice i couldn't alt tab, it is very much the same problem.
