Why are you still on about SA when its clear he's talking about countries other than yours? SA is by far not the rule for the rest of the continent, its practically the only country that could be considered developed by Western standards until you get to Northern Africa.
I'm not talking about SA. I'm saying that yes, there are places all over Africa that aren't developed which is likely what most people see, but that's not all there is to it. There's development everywhere. Just like in any other place you get rural and urban areas. Granted those rural areas might not be up to scratch by some standards but its progress. I just want the stereotype or image of Africa as a whole to stop being this giant wild place where you have to hunt your food and tame a lion or stupid things like that. I think that's clear enough.

Why would a tour want to show the poor areas, they want you to go to the developed parts to spent your tourist cash... Its not like 100% of the country is wild, thats not what undeveloped means, sure there is infrastructure in place for whatever mining and textile industry that may exist, but the fact is most of the population lives below the poverty line, whether it be rural or urban.

The majority of tourism in Africa involves wildlife and ancient tribal traditions. Unlike many places in Europe, Asia, and other continents the better-developed urban areas don't really have much to show besides a few museums at best.

Even if I wanted this phone, I wouldn't buy it simply for the name. Someone would ask me about it and it will be like, "Oh what phone is that?"..."Umm....not sure".

Nothing is as simple as you think here. But honestly, if we had Obama for 8 years instead of USA - our country would probably look a lot better than it is.
Mining isn't in the stone-age, just the workers are constantly striking violently for more wages - and the government just doesn't know what to do. No one has set up shop to exploit the resources other than our government. Heck, we only have 1 nuclear powerplant in the Western Cape, the rest is coal powered. Simply because our government didn't care.
The people aren't starving, they're just unhappy and angry at the government. The only reason the ANC is in power still is because they 'brain-wash' the mass uneducated population to vote for them. (ie; they go out and tell people they HAVE to vote for ANC, and they do not indicate that they actually have a choice).

That being said, I still believe that there are some of the most driven, enthusiastic and brilliant people in this country. Without them pushing forward to help further develop our country, we would be lost.
getting OT now but the Chinese are also exploiting the resources, and many others. its not just the USA.

My guess is that the same exact phone will be sold elsewhere in the world but marketed under a different name.

No, you're wrong. I traveled extensively through most of the Southern African countries (excluding South Africa itself as I said), and many of the areas in Angola, Malawi and Mozambique especially were exactly like as you facetiously described.

South Africa is generally accepted as the isolated case, and doesn't represent the continent as a whole, being the most developed and 'western' country in the continent. Perhaps you yourself need to go out to some other countries nearby - not on a 'tour or something' - and see what it's like in lots of areas still.

The difference between countries that have it 'right' (Zambia, Namibia etc) and those that are still (and will remain) at a very low level of development (e.g. Angola, Mozambique) for years to come was striking.
